ANN-driven edge point selection criterion

Proceedings of 3rd IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2002
This paper presents a new strategy that exploits artificial neural networks (ANNs) for a direct selection of edge points from an image. First, a spatial filtering for edge enhancement (the Canny filter) is used to obtain a set of candidate edge points which turn out to be the local maxima of the filtered image (MPS).

Selective Formation of Zigzag Edges in Graphene Cracks

ACS Nano, 2015
We report the thermally induced unconventional cracking of graphene to generate zigzag edges. This crystallography-selective cracking was observed for as-grown graphene films immediately following the cooling process subsequent to chemical vapor deposition (CVD) on Cu foil. Results from Raman spectroscopy show that the crack-derived edges have smoother

Threshold-Based Edge Selection MPA for SCMA

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2020
Sparse Code Multiple Access (SCMA) has been proposed for the newest generation of communication systems, considering overloaded non-orthogonal multiple access. To deal with the overload, SCMA exploits the sparsity feature with the aid of receivers based on the messsage-passing algorithm (MPA).

Detecting Selective Modification in Vehicular Edge Computing

2019 IEEE 90th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC2019-Fall), 2019
Mobile Edge Computing can be used to realize the low latency requirements of vehicular networks. However, by compromising the road side units (RSUs), an adversary can introduce an extra delay leading to various problems such as the wastage of edge computing resources and disruption of navigational and safety functions.

Object Boundary Edge Selection Using Level-of-Detail Canny Edges

2004
Recently, Nguyen proposed a method[1] for tracking a nonparameterized object (subject) contour in a single video stream with a moving camera and changing background. Nguyen’s approach combined outputs of two steps: creating a predicted contour and removing background edges.

Device-Based Network Selection for Edge Computing

2019 16th IEEE Annual Consumer Communications & Networking Conference (CCNC), 2019
In this demonstration, we show that on a device with multiple network interfaces, our proposed network selection method can select a proper interface based on measured delays and information flags with an ICMP reply packet in an edge computing (EC) environment.

Oriented edge-selective band-pass filtering

Information Sciences, 2014
Edge orientations play an important role in recognition due to their function as a primitive visual feature for various kinds of recognition tasks. Filter-based schemes are the most well-known and widely used method for analyzing edge orientation. However, the classical filter-based approach passes not only edges inside the preferred orientation band ...
