String Sanitization under Edit Distance
Let W be a string of length n over an alphabet Σ, k be a positive integer, and be a set of length-k substrings of W. The ETFS problem asks us to construct a string X_{ED} such that: (i) no string of occurs in X_{ED}; (ii) the order of all other length-k substrings over Σ is the same in W and in X_{ED}; and (iii) X_{ED} has minimal edit distance to W ...

Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

A finitely stable edit distance for merge trees
In this paper, we defined a novel edit distance for merge trees, which we argued to be suitable for a broad range of applications. Relying also on some technical results contained in other works, we investigated its stability properties, which ended up ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Deriving Compact Test Suites for Telecommunication Software Using Distance Metrics
This paper proposes a string edit distance based test selection method to generate compact test sets for telecommunications software. Following the results of previous research, a trace in a test set is considered to be redundant if its edit distance ...

FURY: Fuzzy unification and resolution based on edit distance [PDF]
We present a theoretically founded framework for fuzzy unification and resolution based on edit distance over trees. Our framework extends classical unification and resolution conservatively. We prove important properties of the framework and develop

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...
