The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Lead Phyto extraction in the Huachipa Zoological Park through the use of Tagetes erecta associated with a mycorrhiza and EDTA

open access: yesPeruvian Journal of Agronomy, 2020
Phytoremediation is a potentially less costly approach to treat contaminated soil. Here, the phytoremediation capacity of marigold (Tagetes erecta) in conjunction with EDTA and mycorrhizae was analyzed.

Reversible DNA i-motif to hairpin switching induced by copper(II) cations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
i-Motif DNA structures have previously been utilised for many different nanotechnological applications, but all have used changes in pH to fold the DNA.

Plasma extrachromosomal circular DNA as a biomarker in EGFR‐targeted therapy of non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...

Combined inhibitory effect of nisin with EDTA against Listeria monocytogenes in soy-protein edible coating on turkey frankfurters stored at 4°C and 10°C [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Several food contamination outbreaks are linked to Listeria monocytogenes. More effective methods are needed to prevent the growth and recontamination of L. monocytogenes on ready-to-eat (RTE) food products.

Lead-induced genotoxicity to Vicia faba L.roots in relation with metal cell uptake and initial speciation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Formation of organometallic complexes in soil solution strongly influence metals phytoavailability. However, only few studies deal with the influence of metalspeciation both on plant uptake and genotoxicity. In the present study, Viciafaba seedlings were

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Effect of ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) and maleic acid as root-end conditioners on the sealing ability of ProRoot mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and Biodentine as root-end filling materials: An in vitro study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Dental Research, Dental Clinics, Dental Prospects
Background. Apicoectomy is often required to treat a non-healing endodontic lesion. Materials used during this procedure, such as root-end conditioners and retrograde filling materials, can significantly affect the success.

New primary renal diagnosis codes for the ERA-EDTA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The European Renal Association-European Dialysis and Transplant Association (ERA-EDTA) Registry has produced a new set of primary renal diagnosis (PRD) codes that are intended for use by affiliated registries. It is designed specifically for use in renal

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.
