Behavioral history effects on the maintenance of schedule‐induced drinking in rats

open access: yesJournal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior, Volume 125, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Variables affecting scheduled‐induced drinking (SID) have been widely studied. Previous experience with other food schedules can slow or prevent acquisition of SID, and its rate can decrease once it has developed if the conditions of the experimental sessions change.

Biome Specialisation in Squirrels: Phylogenetic and Geographic Patterns

open access: yesJournal of Biogeography, Volume 53, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Habitat breadth shapes species' responses to environmental change and influences large‐scale biodiversity patterns. According to Vrba's resource‐use hypothesis, biome specialists (inhabiting a single biome) exhibit higher speciation rates than generalists due to increased population isolation during habitat fragmentation, generally ...

Microbial Profiling and Biosafety Assessment of a Sargassum-Based Liquid Biofertilizer Using 16S rRNA Metagenomics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Microbiology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Sargassum seaweed is increasingly abundant in the Caribbean, creating ecological disruption but also providing biomass for agricultural inputs. This study compares the microbial diversity and safety of a Sargassum‐based liquid biofertilizer (SBLB‐INTEC) with those of a conventional product (LB‐BANELINO) using 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing, rather than ...

Exploring the Antiparasitic Activity of the Sea Cucumber Isostichopus sp. aff. badionotus From the Northern Coast of Colombia Against Trypanosoma cruzi

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Chagas disease, caused by Trypanosoma cruzi, remains a neglected tropical infection with limited therapeutic options. Sea cucumbers are recognized as rich sources of bioactive sulfated metabolites with potential antiparasitic properties; however, information on the chemistry and trypanocidal activity of Caribbean Isostichopus species is still scarce ...

Gangs, Labor Mobility, and Development

open access: yesEconometrica, Volume 93, Issue 6, Page 2083-2121, November 2025.
We study how criminal organizations affect economic development. We exploit a natural experiment in El Salvador, where these criminal organizations emerged due to an exogenous shift in American immigration policy that led to the deportation of gang leaders from the United States to El Salvador.

The Guidance of Attentional Selectivity in Visual Search Is Always Feature‐Based: Behavioral and Electrophysiological Evidence From Feature and Conjunction Search Tasks

open access: yesPsychophysiology, Volume 62, Issue 10, October 2025.
ABSTRACT It is generally assumed that the guidance of attention in visual search operates in a feature‐based fashion, but this conclusion is mainly based on the results of search tasks with feature‐defined targets. Here, we investigated whether attentional templates may contain integrated object‐based representations in tasks where targets are defined ...
