Novel insights into the roles of Cdc7 in response to replication stress

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 290, Issue 12, Page 3076-3088, June 2023., 2023
Cdc7 and its regulator Dbf4 (Dbf4‐dependent kinase; DDK) is an essential complex due to its function in replication initiation. Evidence from yeast to human shows that Cdc7 is also required for a successful DNA damage response by coordinating multiple processes dealing with replication stress such as stalled fork protection, translesion synthesis (TLS),

Formulations and valid inequalities for the capacitated dispersion problem

open access: yesNetworks, Volume 81, Issue 2, Page 294-315, March 2023., 2023
Abstract This work focuses on the capacitated dispersion problem for which we study several mathematical formulations in different spaces using variables associated with nodes, edges, and costs. The relationships among the presented formulations are investigated by comparing the projections of the feasible sets of the LP relaxations onto the subspace ...

Pine has two glutamine synthetase paralogs, GS1b.1 and GS1b.2, exhibiting distinct biochemical properties

open access: yesThe Plant Journal, Volume 113, Issue 6, Page 1330-1347, March 2023., 2023
SUMMARY The enzyme glutamine synthetase (EC 6.3.1.2) is mainly responsible for the incorporation of inorganic nitrogen into organic molecules in plants. In the present work, a pine (Pinus pinaster) GS1 (PpGS1b.2) gene was identified, showing a high sequence identity with the GS1b.1 gene previously characterized in conifers.

Hazards of swine slurry: Heavy metals, bacteriology, and overdosing—Physicochemical models to predict the nutrient value

open access: yesAnimal Science Journal, Volume 94, Issue 1, January/December 2023., 2023
Abstract In this work, 124 samples of slurry from 32 commercial farms of three animal categories (lactating sows, nursery piglets, and growing pigs) were studied. The samples were collected in summer and winter over two consecutive years and analyzed for physicochemical properties, macronutrient and micronutrient, heavy metals, and major ...

Social representation of nonacademic work from the perspective of company gatekeepers in the Mexican tourism sector

open access: yesInternational Journal of Training and Development, Volume 26, Issue 4, Page 629-645, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Cooperations or transfers of the German technical and vocational education and training (TVET) system have taken place in different cultural contexts in recent decades. In Mexico, the so‐called Modelo Méxicano de Formación Dual has been adapted to Mexico's cultural conditions. Yet, it still seems to be largely unknown in society, the education

Early career researchers' identity: A qualitative review

open access: yesHigher Education Quarterly, Volume 76, Issue 4, Page 786-799, October 2022., 2022
Abstract In recent decades, higher education has witnessed the development of a series of policies aimed at improving its quality. To this end, accountability measures have been promoted, which are having a major impact on academics. In addition, the precariousness of work in this professional sector is contributing to emphasise its consequences.

Species range size shapes distance‐decay in community similarity

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 28, Issue 7, Page 1348-1357, July 2022., 2022
Abstract Aim (i) To assess the dependence between the form of the decrease in biological similarity with distance (distance‐decay) and species range size and (ii) to introduce the use of a sigmoidal model, the Gompertz function, as a flexible alternative able to fit distance‐decay models under a wide variety of species range sizes.
