Infected subdural hematoma caused by Edwardsiella tarda.
Objective: Both infected subdural hematoma (ISH) and Edwardsiella tarda infections are rare in humans. E. tarda is a motile, facultative anaerobic, gram-negative rod bacterium, which is isolated from fresh or brackish water, but not usually from humans. Extra-intestinal E. tarda infections are rare and might cause severe clinical symptoms. However, ISH

Antibiotic Use in Livestock: A Driver of Resistance in Africa and the Path to Safer Alternatives
The incorporation of antibiotics into animal feeds is one of the drivers of antibiotic resistance, a global One Health challenge. To reduce the burden of antibiotic resistance, the use of alternative growth promoters and drugs must be promoted, as well as sensitization and implementation of regulations.

Flagellins as Vaccine Adjuvants and Cancer Immunotherapy: Recent Advances and Future Prospects
The figure depicts the role of flagellin in immune cells. Flagellin interacts with TLR5, resulting in the formation of homodimers and the recruitment of MyD88, which activates the IκB and MAPK signalling pathways. This results in the activation of NF‐κB and AP‐1, producing TNF‐α, IL‐6, IL‐8, and IL‐12.

Edwardsiella tarda -associated cholangitis associated with Lemmel syndrome
Edwardsiella tarda is an unusual human pathogen. Gastroenteritis is the most frequently reported manifestation of E.tarda infection and extraintestinal infection including cholangitis has rarely been reported. The overall mortality rate for E.tarda bacteremia is, however, reported to be up to 50% (Janda and Abbott, 1993).

Kuhara and colleagues analyzed 366 cases of bacteremic acute cholangitis, focusing on pathogens isolated from blood cultures. Escherichia coli and Klebsiella spp. predominated overall, whereas ESCPM organisms were significantly more frequent in patients with prior biliary‐enteric anastomosis or intervention, highlighting the importance of considering ...

Abstract Edwardsiella piscicida is an emerging bacterial pathogen and the aetiological agent of edwardsiellosis among cultured and wild fish species globally. The increased frequency of outbreaks of this Gram‐negative, facultative intracellular pathogen pose not only a threat to the aquaculture industry but also a possible foodborne/waterborne public ...

Experimental pathogenesis of Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria in shing Heteropneustes fossilis(Bloch) [PDF]
Pathogenicity of Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria was tested on the stinging catfish Heteropneustes fossilis. Before artificial infection the morphological, biochemical and physiological characters of Aeromonas hydrophila were studied. The infections were
