Effective Enforcement in a Conservation Area
Science, 2006Wildlife within protected areas is under increasing threat from bushmeat and illegal trophy trades, and many argue that enforcement within protected areas is not sufficient to protect wildlife. We examined 50 years of records from Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and calculated the history of illegal harvest and enforcement by park authorities.

Effects of lesions to area V6A in monkeys
Experimental Brain Research, 2002In order to assess the role played by area V6A in visuomotor control, two adult green monkeys ( Cercopithecus aethiops) were subjected to small, bilateral lesions in the anterior bank of the parieto-occipital sulcus. Before and after the lesions, monkeys were tested for naturally designed reaching, grasping and picking-up pieces of food from various ...

Effects of Small Oscillations on the Effective Area
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2009We analyze the effective area of the Simbol‐X mirrors as a function of the off‐axis angle for small oscillations. A reduction is expected due to: 1) geometrical effects, because some of the photons miss the secondary mirror surface; 2) reflectivity effects, caused by the variation of the coating reflectivity with the incidence angle.

The area postrema and the hypertensive effect of angiotensin
Metabolic Brain Disease, 1989The intracerebroventricular administration of angiotensin II in pentobarbital-anesthetized cats produced dose-dependent increases in the arterial blood pressure without significant changes in the heart rate. The ablation of the area postrema significantly reduced, but did not abolish, the pressor effect of angiotensin injected into the cerebral ...

Effects of the Mueller Maneuver on aortic area
International Journal of Cardiology, 2014Negative intrathoracic pressure, such as occurs in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), increases the transmural gradient across the aorta. This could predispose to dilation or dissection, particularly when experienced in repetitive fashion over months to years.

EFFECT OF LEAF AREA ON TOMATO YIELD
Acta Horticulturae, 2005The influence of leaf area on tomato yield was evaluated, both by simulations and experimental work. Simulated crop growth results from daily crop gross assimilation rate minus maintenance respiration rate, multiplied by a conversion efficiency factor. Dry matter partitioning is simulated based on the relative sink strengths of the plant organs. Within

Effects of stewardship on protected area effectiveness for coastal birds
Conservation Biology, 2021Abstract Evaluation of protected area effectiveness is critical for conservation of biodiversity. Protected areas that prioritize biodiversity conservation are, optimally, located and managed in ways that support relatively large and stable or increasing wildlife populations.

The Effect and Effectiveness of Decontaminating a Pond in a Residential Area of Fukushima
Health Physics, 2021Abstract Special reconstruction and revitalization bases were designated in Fukushima’s difficult-to-return zone by the Japanese government as targets of intensive decontamination to drastically lower air dose rates and enable residents to return.

EFFECT OF PERTURBATION ON THE AREA PRESERVATION MAP
International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 1994Subharmonic bifurcation patterns in area-preserving maps change their forms dramatically under dissipative perturbation. The studies of such changes are done by the use of the normal form theory and the Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction method where the eigenvalues of the linearized map move along a circle of radius (1−∊)1/2 in the complex plane. The results
