EFFECT OF STIMULATION OF AREA 4s ON FASCICULATIONS
Archives of Neurology And Psychiatry, 1950THE EFFECT of the stimulation of certain suppressor areas on muscular activity has been well demonstrated. Dusser de Barenne and McCulloch 1 showed that stimulation of area 4s causes cessation of movements and relaxation of contracted muscles. Magoun and Rhines 2 found that stimulation of the ventromedial portion of the bulbar reticular formation ...

Retinal Area Specificity in the McCollough Effect?
The American Journal of Psychology, 1974Most theories of the McCollough effect (McCollough, 1965; Stromeyer, 1969; Murch and Hirsch, 1972) attribute the 'greenish' color of white verticals and the 'reddish' color of white horizontals on a test pattern after prolonged alternate viewing of a red vertical and a green horizontal inspection pattern to an adaptation for color beyond the level of ...

Effects of electrode area on electrocardiographic voltages
Journal of Electrocardiology, 1978Effects of two different sizes of chest electrodes--100 and 750 mm2 area--on x and z Frank leads were determined using electrocardiographic data from 25 subjects. In most cases, differences in Rx and Rz were below 50 uV, but in nine cases (36%) differences exceeded this value for either Rx or Rz or both. In six cases, differences exceeded 100 uV.

The foveal color-match-area effect
Vision Research, 1994Rayleigh matches for foveal, temporally alternating fields showed only a small increase in the log green/red matching ratio (0.03--average of 10 observers) as the field was decreased from 116 to 19 min arc. This is consistent with only a small, 10%, change in photopigment density or lengthening of the cone outer segments in the central fovea.

Effectiveness of an intensive coronary care area
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1965Abstract One hundred and twenty-six cases of acute myocardial infarction have been treated in the Hartford Coronary Care Area at Bethany Hospital, Kansas City, Kansas, with an over all mortality rate of 15.9 per cent. In 16 patients unexpected cardiac arrest developed and 9 of these patients were discharged from the hospital alive and well ...

Area and edge effects in radiometric forces
Physical Review E, 2009The radiometric force on several configurations of heated plates placed in a stagnant gas is examined experimentally, with a high-resolution thrust stand, and numerically using the direct simulation Monte Carlo method and a discrete ordinate solution of a model kinetic equation.

The effect of area on the critical flicker threshold
Albrecht von Graefes Archiv für Klinische und Experimentelle Ophthalmologie, 1977The relation between the luminance required to discriminate flicker of constant rate (critical flicker threshold) and the size of theretinal area stimulated was determined under photopic conditions. At small stimulus fields (diameter less than 44 min of arc) the slope of the critical flicker threshold vs.

Brightness function: Effect of area and duration
Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1973The dependence of perceived brightness on flash luminance and duration was determined for dark-adapted observers, with target size, retinal location, and wavelength varied parametrically. In the first series of experiments, observers made magnitude estimations of the brightness of flashes of varying luminance and duration.

Large mask area effects in selective area growth
Journal of Crystal Growth, 2006In this paper we analyze for the first time selective area growth (SAG) of GaAs by MOVPE on dark field patterns, where the different masking features are dense and at the same time the openings are surrounded by very large mask area (larger than the openings) in all directions.

The effect of target area on grating acuity
Vision Research, 1968Abstract Acuity thresholds were determined in narrow-band chromatic illumination for gratings subtending square targets from 6 to 144 minutes of visual angle along each side. Acuity as a function of peak-to-peak luminance showed a steeper slope for variable contrast than for variable luminance.
