Cross-property connections between Young's modulus and diffusion coefficient of two-phase composite

open access: yesSt. Petersburg Polytechnical University Journal: Physics and Mathematics, 2021
The paper interrelates changes in the effective elastic and diffusion properties of a two-phase composite caused by inhomogeneities. The correlation is based on similarities between the microstructural parameters in whose terms the effective properties ...

Characterization of Effective Diffusion within Viscoelastic Fluids with Elastic Instabilities

open access: yesFluids, 2022
We considered effective diffusion, characterized by magnitudes of effective diffusion coefficients, in order to quantify mass transport due to the onset and development of elastic instabilities.

Modeling kinetics of convective drying of Curcuma longa L. [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Engenharia Agrícola e Ambiental, 2021
This study aimed to determine drying curves of land saffron (Curcuma longa L.) rhizomes at different temperatures and ventilation conditions to adjust non-linear regression models, and to calculate effective diffusion coefficients and activation energies.

Scale Dependency of the Effective Matrix Diffusion Coefficient [PDF]

open access: yesVadose Zone Journal, 2004
It has been recognized that matrix diffusion is an important process for retarding solute transport in fractured rock. Based on analyses of tracer transport data from a number of field tests, we demonstrate for the first time that the effective matrix‐diffusion coefficient may be scale dependent and generally increases with test scale.

Effects of diffusive property heterogeneity on effective matrix diffusion coefficient for fractured rock [PDF]

open access: yesWater Resources Research, 2006
Heterogeneities of diffusion properties are likely to influence the effective matrix diffusion coefficient determined from tracer breakthrough curves. The objectives of this study are (1) to examine if it is appropriate to use a single, effective matrix diffusion coefficient to predict breakthrough curves in a fractured formation, (2) to examine if a ...

Heavy quark momentum diffusion coefficient during hydrodynamization via effective kinetic theory [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
In these proceedings, we compute the heavy quark momentum diffusion coefficient using QCD effective kinetic theory for a plasma going through the bottom-up thermalization scenario until approximate hydrodynamization.

Corrections to Einstein's relation for Brownian motion in a tilted periodic potential [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper we revisit the problem of Brownian motion in a tilted periodic potential. We use homogenization theory to derive general formulas for the effective velocity and the effective diffusion tensor that are valid for arbitrary tilts. Furthermore,
