Diffusive Skin Effect in Zeolites
The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters, 2022Effective contact and collision between reactants and active sites are essential for heterogeneous catalysis. Herein, we investigated molecular diffusion in more than 200 kinds of zeolites, and an intriguing "diffusive skin effect" was observed, whereby molecules migrated along the pore walls of zeolites (i.e., diffusion trajectories) because of the ...

Effective diffusion constant for inhomogeneous diffusion
Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1993Summary: We consider the problem of determining analytically the effective diffusion constant \(D_{\text{eff}}\) for diffusion in an inhomogeneous medium, described by the diffusion equation \(\partial_ t P = \partial_ x[D(x) \partial_ x P]\) with a position-dependent diffusion coefficient \(D(x)\).

Thin Solid Films, 1984
Abstract On the basis of the fact that the mean square displacement of atoms in the vicinity of the surface is higher than that in the bulk, a thin film diffusion size effect is introduced. In films of the order of 100 A thick it leads to a marked increase in the diffusivity as the film thickness decreases.
