Effective Resistivity in Collisionless Magnetic Reconnection [PDF]
AbstractAn effective resistivity relevant to collisionless magnetic reconnection (MR) in plasma is presented. It is based on the argument that pitch angle scattering of electrons in the small electron diffusion region around the X line can lead to an effective, resistivity in collisionless plasma. The effective resistivity so obtained is in the form of

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Effect of Dopant Concentration on the Defect Structure in Zn2+ Doped Ce: Cu: LiNbO3 Crystals
A series of Zn:Ce:Cu:LiNbO3crystals doped with Zn2+(1, 3, 5, 7 mol%) were grown by the Czochralski method from the congruent melt In order to study the influence of Zn2 +ion concentration to the defect structure of Zn: Ce: Cu: LiNbO3 single crystal, we ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Effective interventions and decline of antituberculosis drug resistance in Eastern Taiwan, 2004-2008. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: The Taiwan health authority recently launched several tuberculosis (TB) control interventions, which may have an impact on the epidemic of drug-resistant TB.

Effectiveness of Amiodarone in Resistant Arrhythmias [PDF]
Amiodarone is used in the treatment of previously drug-resistant supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias. We report our experience with amiodarone in 8 patients. Five patients had paroxysmal atrial flutter, one had paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, one had supraventricular tachycardia, and one ventricular tachycardia.

Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Challenges to effective control of tuberculosis and drug resistance in African countries
Drug-resistant tuberculosis (TB) appeared soon after the introduction of chemotherapy and is considered a man-made phenomenon. Despite the efficacy of short course chemotherapy, which includes a cocktail of drugs and has been generally recommended since
