A Novel Approach to Automating Overcurrent Protection Settings Using an Optimized Genetic Algorithm

open access: yesEnergies
In electrical networks, the coordination and selectivity of protective devices are key to improving reliability and ensuring operational safety. Protections play a fundamental role in maintaining system stability and detecting faults within the power ...

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Parallel Write-Efficient Algorithms and Data Structures for Computational Geometry

open access: yes, 2018
© 2018 Association for Computing Machinery. In this paper, we design parallel write-efficient geometric algorithms that perform asymptotically fewer writes than standard algorithms for the same problem.

Scalable and space-efficient Robust Matroid Center algorithms

open access: yesJournal of Big Data, 2023
Given a dataset V of points from some metric space, a popular robust formulation of the k-center clustering problem requires to select k points (centers) of V which minimize the maximum distance of any point of V from its closest center, excluding the z ...

Efficient Algorithms for the Hadamard Decomposition

open access: yes2025 IEEE 35th International Workshop on Machine Learning for Signal Processing (MLSP)
The Hadamard decomposition is a powerful technique for data analysis and matrix compression, which decomposes a given matrix into the element-wise product of two or more low-rank matrices. In this paper, we develop an efficient algorithm to solve this problem, leveraging an alternating optimization approach that decomposes the global non-convex problem

Efficient Algorithms for MultiPolynomial Resultant [PDF]

open access: yesThe Computer Journal, 1993
Summary: The multipolynomial resultant of a set of equations is fundamental in quantifier elimination over the elementary theory of real and algebraically closed fields. Earlier algorithms for resultant computation and symbolic elimination are considered slow in practice.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

I/O-efficient algorithms on near-planar graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Obtaining I/O-efficient algorithms for basic graph problems on sparse directed graphs has been a long-standing open problem. The best known algorithms for most basic problems on such graphs still require O (V ) I/Os in the worst case, where V is the ...

Efficient Record Linkage Algorithms Using Complete Linkage Clustering. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Data from different agencies share data of the same individuals. Linking these datasets to identify all the records belonging to the same individuals is a crucial and challenging problem, especially given the large volumes of data.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...
