Energy use pattern and optimization of energy required for broiler production using data envelopment analysis

open access: yesInformation Processing in Agriculture, 2016
A literature review shows that energy consumption in agricultural production in Iran is not efficient and a high degree of inefficiency in broiler production exists in Iran. Energy consumption of broiler production in Ardabil province of Iran was studied

Energy efficiency optimization with energy harvesting using harvest-use approach [PDF]

open access: yes2015 IEEE International Conference on Communication Workshop (ICCW), 2015
Energy harvesting is emerging as a promising approach to improve the energy efficiency (EE) and to extend the life of wireless networks. This paper focuses on energy-efficient transmission power allocation techniques for a point-to-point communication channel, equipped with a fixed-power battery, as well as a harvest-use battery.

Informal Action—Adjudication—Rule Making: Some Recent Developments in Federal Administrative Law [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
Direct energy consumption of ICT hardware is only “half the story.” In order to get the “whole story,” energy consumption during the entire life cycle has to be taken into account. This chapter is a first step toward a more comprehensive picture, showing

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Contemporary Targets for Control of Efficient Energy Use

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений и энергетических объединенний СНГ: Энергетика, 2012
The paper describes main principles of the methodology for control of efficient energy use in power engineering and economy sectors as a whole. Targets for control of energy use at different levels have been considered in the paper.

It's About How and Where We Build: Connecting Energy and Smart Growth [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In recent years, energy issues have become a growing concern for Americans. Largely missing from present energy discussions, however, is the role that land-use practices have on energy consumption and the use of alternative energy resources.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

On the Tradeoff between Energy Harvesting and Caching in Wireless Networks

open access: yes, 2015
Self-powered, energy harvesting small cell base stations (SBS) are expected to be an integral part of next-generation wireless networks. However, due to uncertainties in harvested energy, it is necessary to adopt energy efficient power control schemes to
