Hymenopteran parasitoid complex and fall armyworm: a case study in eastern India
Fall armyworm (FAW), Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith) has significantly affected maize crop yields, production efficiency, and farmers’ incomes in the Indian Eastern Gangetic Plains region since it was first observed in India in 2018.

ABSTRACT Background The edible insect industry, driven by the nutritional and environmental benefits of mealworms, faces increasing challenges from pathogens affecting Tenebrio molitor farming systems. Hemocyte‐based health assessments could provide valuable diagnostic insights, yet standardized hemolymph processing protocols and hematological ...

Garlic‐derived diallyl disulfide acts as a behavioural deterrent that suppresses insect mating and oviposition through sensory pathways. The compound is detected through gustatory mechanisms involving the transient receptor potential A1 (TrpA1) channel and neural responses.

The greenhouse thrips, Heliothrips haemorrhoidalis (Bouché, 1833), is an important avocado pest in New Zealand, where repeated infestations reduce leaf quality and tree vigour. To assess biological control stability under different predator assemblages, this study evaluated thrips population dynamics and predator survival across two sequential phases ...

Drought stress modulates indirect defense via bottom‐up effects in tomato and wheat
Different water regimes can have a significant impact on plant morphology and defense pathways in tomato and wheat, triggering multiple olfactory choices in biocontrol agents of key insect pests. These findings could be used to implement biocontrol strategies within the IPM context under a changing climate scenario.

Decision‐making in integrated pest management (IPM) corresponds to an optimisation problem where the plant–pest dynamics and the control actions are constraints and where the objective function accounts for the costs of the treatments and the total income at the harvest time.

Microbiome‐mediated chemical communication in insects: Implications for pest management
Microbiome–semiochemical interactions involve the following processes: direct microbial synthesis, host gene regulation, precursor biotransformation, microbiome modulation and indirect ecological signaling. Abstract Insects rely on semiochemicals to regulate aggregation, mating, foraging, and host selection. This review synthesizes evidence that insect‐
