Thermal Stress Has Size‐Dependent but Not Sex‐Specific Effects on Mortality in an Insect Model
Climate change is increasing the frequency and intensity of heatwaves, posing a major risk to animal populations. We exposed male and female burying beetles of a wide range of body sizes to a simulated heatwave and found that heat stress increased mortality. Smaller individuals were especially vulnerable, but mortality did not differ between the sexes.
