Other Egg Parasitoids: Research for Utilisation

2013
Among the seven hymenopteran families (other than Trichogrammatidae), which are known to exploit the eggs of pest insects, Scelionidae and Mymaridae are entirely egg parasitoids, while Encyrtidae, Eulophidae, Eupelmidae, Platygasteridae and Tetracampidae include scattered genera and species, a few of which as immatures or adults act as egg predators ...

Intraguild interaction between egg parasitoids: the role of the host egg mass size and parasitoids’ reproductive capacities

2013
In Sicily, field collections of egg masses of the southern green stink bug, Nezara viridula (L.) (Heteroptera:Pentatomidae), revealed that two solitary parasitoids, Trissolcus basalis (Wollaston) (Hymenoptera: Platygastridae) and Ooencyrtus telenomicida (Vassiliev) (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae), can exploit the same egg mass.

Reproduction and Immature Development of Egg Parasitoids

2009
In this chapter I review the recent advances on egg parasitoids reproduction and immature development. Sperm production in adult male parasitoids varies depending on the status of their testes at emergence and these differences in sperm production are described by the spermatogeny index. Polygyny is common in Hymenoptera parasitoids and males that mate
