Egg Parasitoids in Cotton Ecosystem
2013The egg parasitoid fauna, especially trichogrammatid species, associated with the spotted bollworms (Earias vittella, E. insulana), pink bollworm (Pectinophora gossypiella) and American bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera), which are the key target pests in cotton ecosystem, are discussed. Inundative releases of two native species (Trichogramma chilonis and

Egg Parasitoids of Fruit Crop Pests
2013Among the temperate fruit crops, there is a good scope for biocontrol of the codling moth with repeated release of Trichogramma embryophagum Htg., while the Indian gypsy moth is subjected to varying levels of natural parasitisation by Anastatus kashmirensis Mathur.

Selectivity of Pesticides to Egg Parasitoid in Sugarcane
Sugar Tech, 2018The aim of this study was to evaluate the selectivity of herbicides, insecticides, and fungus Metarhizium anisopliae (Metsch.) on the immature stages of Trichogramma galloi Zucchi. Egg masses of Diatraea flavipennella Box, 1931, containing 30 eggs each, were immersed in test solutions for 5 s, before and after parasitism.

Egg Parasitoids in Cereal Crops Ecosystem
2013The major targets of egg parasitoids occurring in cereal crops include mainly stem borers (Scirpophaga, Chilo), leaf folders (Cnaphalocrocis), the gall midge and leaf/plant hopper. Among trichogrammatids commonly occurring in cereal ecosystem are the ‘minutum’ group (T. chilotraeae, T. pretiosum, T. chilonis) and the ‘japonicum’ group (T. japonicum, T.

Insect egg deposition induces Pinus sylvestris to attract egg parasitoids
Journal of Experimental Biology, 2002SUMMARY Plant volatiles released in response to feeding insects are known to attract enemies of the feeding herbivores. In this study, egg deposition by a herbivorous insect was shown to induce a gymnosperm plant to emit volatiles that attract egg parasitoids.

Diapause in the egg parasitoid Trichogramma cordubensis: role of temperature
Journal of Insect Physiology, 2002The role of temperature in the induction of diapause in Trichogramma cordubensis (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae), under controlled laboratory conditions, was investigated using Ephestia kuehniella Zeller (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) eggs as hosts. Results indicate that prestorage temperatures and the duration of exposure of the parasitoids to these ...

Parasitoid egg shell changes in a suitable and unsuitable host
Journal of Ultrastructure Research, 1974The egg shell of the braconid, Cardiochiles nigriceps , Viereck consists of two distinct layers: an inner, crystalline, proteinaceous chorion, and microvilluslike projections embedded in an outer fibrous chorion. In a suitable host the fibrous layer and projections are slowly lost during the first 12 hours.

Nutritional Ecology of Insect Egg Parasitoids
2009All animals require food and the food is the major issue that determines the biology of an organism. But there are a number of issues associated with the food that are involved. These include the location, confirmation, consumption, utilization and allocation of the resource (food) to the various aspects of the organism’s life style that determines the

Egg Parasitoids Commercialization in the New World
2009This chapter deals with the commercialization of egg parasitoid species that attack crop pests in the New World. It is discussed the current status of the worldwide commercialization of natural enemies in the U.S.A. and Europe, and with more details in the New World, including Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Cuba, Ecuador, Venezuela and Peru. The reasons for
