Nanotherapy for Neural Retinal Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanotechnology enhances ophthalmic treatments by improving drug delivery and regenerating ocular tissues, combating vision loss from retinal diseases through innovative nano‐systems. This review outlines ocular anatomy, pathology, immune microenvironment, and barriers, detailing nanocarrier characteristics, classification, and preparation methods, and ...

The Role of Structure in the Protein Dynamical Transition [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
The protein dynamical transition is investigated as a function of protein structure using terahertz time domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS). Measurements performed for native state and denatured hen egg white lysozyme (HEWL) show that protein structure is not necessary for the dynamical transition.

Monolayer Spontaneous Curvature of Raft-Forming Membrane Lipids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Monolayer spontaneous curvatures for cholesterol, DOPE, POPE, DOPC, DPPC, DSPC, POPC, SOPC, and egg sphingomyelin were obtained using small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) on inverted hexagonal phases (HII). Spontaneous curvatures of bilayer forming lipids were estimated by adding controlled amounts to a HII forming template following previously ...

MEAL ENERGY, CONTENT OF PROTEINS AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON TURKEY HENS BREEDING PROPERTIES

open access: yesVeterinaria, 2014
Four groups, each containing 30 turkey hens (35 weeks old) – big white Johnson hybrids, were used for the research of the relation between raw proteins and metabolic energy in the meal, and their influence on the turkey hens’ breeding properties (egg ...

Insight into the cryoprotective effect of egg yolk peptides on frozen egg yolk: functional, structural and physicochemical properties

open access: yesFood Science of Animal Products
Egg yolk peptides were prepared by enzymatic hydrolysis of defatted egg yolk powder. The cryoprotective effects of these peptides were assessed by examining the functional, structural and physicochemical properties of egg yolk. Results indicated that egg

Proteins involved in motility and sperm-egg interaction evolve more rapidly in mouse spermatozoa.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Proteomic studies of spermatozoa have identified a large catalog of integral sperm proteins. Rapid evolution of these proteins may underlie adaptive changes of sperm traits involved in different events leading to fertilization, although the selective ...

The Role of Diaphanous in Ring Canal Development in Drosophila melanogaster [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Infertility is a widespread condition that does not always have a known cause, and for which we often do not have a cure. One potential cause of infertility is defects in gametogenesis, or the formation of sperm and egg.

Protein-carbohydrate interactions during fertilization [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Interaction between gametes during fertilization is at least in part regulated by carbohydrate moieties of the zona pellucida (ZP) and carbohydrate binding proteins of the sperm surface. This review focuses on the protein-carbohydrate interactions during

Biodegradable and Implantable Triboelectric Nanogenerator Improved by β‐Lactoglobulin Fibrils‐Assisted Flexible PVA Porous Film

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
BF‐PVA porous film is prepared by doping BF into PVA to form hydrogel and then freeze‐drying and compression to improve the tensile resistance, bending resistance, swelling resistance, degradation time and electrical properties of PVA. Finally, the degradable triboelectric sensor made of BF‐PVA porous film and Mg film is used to realize the signal ...

Cataract Vision Mimicked By Means Of Protein Denaturation In Egg Albumen [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
As the world's population ages, cataract-induced visual dysfunction and blindness is on the increase. This is a significant global problem. The most common symptoms of cataracts are glared and blurred vision. Usually, people with cataract have trouble seeing or reading at distance or in low light and also their color perception is altered. Furthermore,
