Two cis-regulatory SNPs upstream of ABCG2 synergistically cause the blue eggshell phenotype in the duck.

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2020
Avian eggshell color is an interesting genetic trait. Here, we report that the blue eggshell color of the domestic duck is caused by two cis-regulatory G to A transitions upstream of ABCG2, which encodes an efflux transporter.

The effect of developmental stage on eggshell thickness variation in endangered falcons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We compared eggshell thickness of hatched eggs with that of non-developed eggs in endangered falcon taxa to explore the effect of embryo development on eggshell thinning.

A comprehensive embryonic staging series of the turtle Trachemys scripta

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Turtles hold a unique place in vertebrate evolutionary history, making them critical assets in embryology research. Yet, they remain understudied as potential model organisms in the field. Here, to support experimental manipulations with turtle embryos, we have created a complete normal table of development for comprehensive ...

The first description of dinosaurian eggshell from the Maastrichtian Lance Formation, Wyoming, North America [PDF]

open access: yesActa Palaeontologica Polonica
Although numerous fossils have been excavated and described from the Upper Cretaceous (Maastrichtian) Lance Formation, eggs and eggshell remains are rare and have yet to be described in detail.

Biophysical processes of morphogenesis in lizard lungs

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The lungs of squamate reptiles (lizards and snakes) are highly diverse, exhibiting single chambers, multiple chambers, transitional forms with two to three chambers, along with a suite of other anatomical features, including finger‐like epithelial projections into the body cavity known as diverticulae.

Data on CaO and eggshell catalysts used for biodiesel production

open access: yesData in Brief, 2018
This research investigated the production of biodiesel from soybean oil (transesterification process) using pure calcium oxide and calcium oxide obtained from eggshell as heterogeneous catalysts.

Regulation of Oxygen Vacancies in High Entropy Oxides With Multi‐Layer Eggshell Architectural Framework for Boosting the Electrochemical Performance of Supercapacitors

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
An oxygen vacancy–rich FeZnCuCoNi high‐entropy oxide was constructed using a dual‐defect engineering strategy. This multi‐layer eggshell‐structured material delivers remarkable electrochemical performance, with high specific capacitance, excellent rate capability, and long‐term cycling stability even after 10 000 cycles.

Effect of elevated temperature on eggshell, eggshell powder and eggshell powder mortars for masonry applications

open access: yesJournal of Building Engineering, 2019
Abstract Eggshell powder (ESP) may be an alternative natural sustainable supplementary cementitious material (SCM). Mortar specimens containing 0, 5, 10 and 20 wt. % of ESP as Portland cement replacements were submitted to 20, 150, 300 and 450°C.
