The study of environmental stabilization for natural color dyed of eggshell powder filled in polylactic acid bio-composites

open access: hybrid, 2021
This research aimed to study the environmental stabilization for bio-composites. The weight content of eggshell powder (ESP) was set 5% by weight into the polylactic acid (PLA) matrix.

A Study on the Relationship Between Eggshell Color and Eggshell Quality in Commercial Broiler Breeders [PDF]

open access: bronzeInternational Journal of Poultry Science, 2008
In this experiment, two trials were conducted to determine whether broiler breeder eggshell color could be used as an easy means of predicted eggshell quality. In Trial 1, 4320 commercial broiler breeder eggs were obtained. Specific gravity (SG) was measured and color determined on the eggs on the day of lay.

Genetic parameters for egg number, egg weight, and eggshell color in three Catalan poultry breeds

open access: hybridPoultry Science, 1997
Heritabilities for egg number, egg weight, and eggshell color (percentage light absorbance) at 39 wk of age, and the genetic correlations between them were estimated by restricted maximum likelihood in three Catalan poultry breeds: Penedesenca Negra (PN), Prat Lleonada (PL), and Empordanesa Roja (ER).

Avian eggshell coloration predicts shell-matrix protoporphyrin content [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Zoology, 2022
Avian eggshell pigmentation may provide information about a female’s physiological condition, in particular her state of oxidative balance. Previously we found that female House Wrens (Troglodytes aedon Vieillot, 1809) with lighter, less-maculated, and redder ground-colored shells were older and produced heavier offspring than females laying more ...

Pheasant hatchability and physicochemical features of egg and extra-embryonic structures depending on eggshell color. [PDF]

open access: yesPoult Sci, 2023
The study aimed to analyze the biological value of eggs and extra-embryonic structures affecting pheasant hatchability depending on the eggshell's color. Eggs (1,415) from 62-wk-old pheasants were used.

Mitochondrial transcription factor A induces the declined mitochondrial biogenesis correlative with depigmentation of brown eggshell in aged laying hens

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2021
Eggshell color is an important characteristic for poultry eggs. Eggs from aged hens usually have poor shell color that is unacceptable for the table egg market.

Eggshell appearance does not signal maternal corticosterone exposure in Japanese quail:an experimental study with brown-spotted eggs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Reproduction is a critical period for birds as they have to cope with many stressful events. One consequence of an acute exposure to stress is the release of corticosterone, the avian stress hormone.
