Effects of dicofol on mallard eggshell quality
Archives of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 1990Dicofol is an organochlorine acaricide structurally similar to DDE and there is concern that it may effect avian reproduction. Effects of dietary dicofol on mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) egg production and eggshell quality were evaluated; the mallard is moderately sensitive to DDE shellthinning toxicity.

An Automatic System for Eggshell Quality Monitoring
2001 Sacramento, CA July 29-August 1,2001, 2001The objective of this project was to develop an automatic system to monitor eggshell quality. A self-designed inspection unit based on pressure loading and de-loading technique was combined with the image processing system to replace human eyes to monitor eggshell quality automatically.

Mycotoxins and eggshell quality: cracking the problem
World Mycotoxin Journal, 2008Good eggshell quality is essential for preservation of egg contents and embryonic life. Eggs with poor shell quality are rejected both as table eggs and as hatching eggs, leading to heavy economic losses. Dietary mycotoxins in laying hens can predispose them to or precipitate eggshell defects.
