Availability prediction method for EGNOS
GPS Solutions, 2016Following the recent development of wide-area differential technology, satellite-based augmentation systems (SBASs) have been applied in many fields. However, the capability of monitoring stations used for generating error correction might degenerate with the aging of ground equipment over time, and the poor geometry between ranging and integrity ...

EGNOS: project status overview
Air & Space Europe, 1999Abstract The European Geostationary Navigation Overlay System (EGNOS) is being developed in Europe to provide GPS and GLONASS satellite-based augmentation services to aviation, maritime and land users. EGNOS is a major element of the European Satellite Navigation Programme which is jointly being implemented by the European Union, the European Space ...

Extension of EGNOS ionospheric correction
2011 XXXth URSI General Assembly and Scientific Symposium, 2011EGNOS corrections are distributed over most European countries. Unfortunately, the current ground infrastructure saves the correction accuracy only for limited area of Europe. On the edge of that area, the usefulness of the EGNOS corrections is questionable. That problem occurs in Poland.

Qualification of EGNOS for Routine Operation
2003EGNOS is nearly ready to start providing a pre-operational Signal in Space (SIS), based on functionally qualified elements. This is the first step before reaching the complete qualification in terms of functionality and performance expected during the first half of 2004.

EGNOS Performances assessment in maritime navigation
2021 International Workshop on Metrology for the Sea; Learning to Measure Sea Health Parameters (MetroSea), 2021The maritime community is increasingly interested to guarantee the safety and security of shipping. In this context, the knowledge of accurate and reliable information about a ship’s position is a fundamental requirement for navigation and for avoiding accidents. This is valid for both maritime navigation and inland navigation.

Reliability Assessment of Supporting Satellite System EGNOS
2013The paper presents the issues related to satellite navigation systems which can be supported by the EGNOS system. It provides basic information on the structure and operation of these systems, especially the EGNOS system. This enabled an analysis in terms of reliability of both the satellite navigation systems, as well as EGNOS.

Performance Evaluation of EGNOS in Challenging Environments
Journal of Global Positioning Systems, 2012Space-based augmentation systems (SBAS), such as EGNOS, are largely used to complement GPS for accurate and reliable positioning, which is required by rapidly growing location-based services (LBS). However, it is challenging to use EGNOS in the environments including urban areas and marginal area of the monitoring networks, where many LBS are delivered.

2012 6th ESA Workshop on Satellite Navigation Technologies (Navitec 2012) & European Workshop on GNSS Signals and Signal Processing, 2012
EGNOS is the European SBAS currently providing GPS Safety of Life augmentation over Europe. In parallel with on-going EGNOS operations, GNSS constellations and signals are evolving (GLONASS, GPS, GALILEO, COMPASS, …). This evolving context has led ESA to launch the so-called “European GNSS Evolution Program” (EGEP) in order to explore more in depth the

Flying EGNOS Approaches in the Swiss Alps
Journal of Navigation, 2006The European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) system is being developed in Europe to provide Global Positioning System (GPS) and GLONASS regional augmentation services to aviation, maritime and land users. The EGNOS system, as any other Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), relies on the broadcast of differential correction and ...
