Evidence for vertical transmission of Mycoplasma haemocanis, but not Ehrlichia ewingii, in a dog
A 2‐year‐old female intact pregnant Beagle was evaluated after the owner surrendered her to a shelter. Prepartum and 2 months postpartum at the time of routine spay, the dam was whole‐blood polymerase chain reaction (PCR) positive for Ehrlichia ewingii ...

Molecular detection of tick-borne pathogen diversities in ticks from livestock and reptiles along the shores and adjacent islands of lake Victoria and lake Baringo, Kenya [PDF]
Tick-borne pathogens (TBPs) are responsible for some of the most serious emerging infectious diseases facing sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) and the rest of the world today (1, 2).

Natural history of Ehrlichia ruminantium [PDF]
Ehrlichia ruminantium is an obligately intracellular proteobacterium which causes a disease known as heartwater or cowdriosis in some wild, and all domestic, ruminants. The organism is transmitted by ticks of the genus Amblyomma, and it is of serious economic importance wherever the natural vectors occur, an area which includes all of sub-Saharan ...

Neurolymphomatosis of T‐Cell Origin in a Dog
ABSTRACT A 10‐year‐old mixed‐breed dog was presented with progressive neurological deficits suggestive of polyneuropathy. CT and MRI revealed no relevant abnormalities, whereas the CSF analysis showed a marked lymphocytic pleocytosis, immunocytochemically classified as T‐cell lymphoma.

Sequences for differential diagnostic of Ehrlichia ruminantium and use thereof [PDF]
The invention provides genes that are unique either to Ehrlichia ruminantium strain Gardel or to Ehrlichia ruminantium strain Welgevonden, or allelic couples which are present in both strains but whose sequences differ between the two strains, as genetic

Brucella canis in two juvenile labrador retriever littermates with no known travel history
Abstract Two labrador retriever littermates presented separately to investigate chronic lethargy and shifting lameness. In both cases, clinical examination revealed a multi‐limb lameness. Neither the patients nor their dam or sire had a travel history outside the UK.

Molecular Detection and Characterization of Ehrlichia ruminantium [PDF]
Ehrlichia ruminantium is an obligate intracellular bacterium that can cause a disease in ruminants known as heartwater. The vertebrate host becomes infected when infected Amblyomma ticks (nymphs or adults) feed on it. When the host survives the infection
