EHV Application of Autotransformers

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1967
The universal method of voltage transformation from EHV levels to lower voltage systems is through the use of the autotransformer. The characteristic of the autotransformer is profoundly influenced by the tertiary winding or the lack of it. This paper discusses the influence of the tertiary winding and its placement, fault magnitude and short circuit ...

A nested PCR for the detection and differentiation of EHV-1 and EHV-4

Journal of Virological Methods, 1993
The nested PCR method was applied for the detection and direct differentiation of equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1) and type 4 (EHV-4). Primer pairs were chosen from the glycoprotein B (gB) coding region of each serotype. The outer and inner EHV-1 primer pairs were type-specific, whereas the outer EHV-4 primer pair amplified EHV-1 and EHV-4 DNA and was

EHV line sleet melting

CCECE 2003 - Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering. Toward a Caring and Humane Technology (Cat. No.03CH37436), 2004
Techniques which had been employed for melting ice from medium - voltage power transmission lines have been deemed inapplicable to the bundled conductor lines of extra-high-voltage (EHV) systems. Other strategic approaches are being devised and applied instead.

Equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1) infection and vaccination with an inactivated EHV-1 vaccine

New Zealand Veterinary Journal, 1986
Abstract Extract Madam:- We have been investigating episodes of severe respiratory disease in foals during their first year of life in the Waikato district of New Zealand. Most foals are affected at six to ten weeks of age and again at weaning time (4) and the problem has been especially severe on one stud, ten foals having died of respiratory disease ...

Radio-Noise Levels of EHV Transmission Lines Based on Project EHV Research

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1966
The results of three years of experimental and theoretical research on transmission-line radio noise at Project EHV are presented. Computer programs were developed to process the data on a statistical basis, and as output provide both histograms and regression analyses for four test configurations operated at the 500-and 700-kV levels.

Corona-Loss Characteristics of EHV Transmission Lines Based on Project EHV Research

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1966
Since 1960 the corona-loss characteristics of a variety of extra-high-voltage (EHV) transmission-line configurations have been under study at Project EHV [1], [2]. This paper presents results from the analysis of corona losses measured under all weather conditions experienced during 2?years of observation of single or bundled conductors at 500 or 700 ...

Maintenance of EHV substation

2016 International Conference on Signal Processing, Communication, Power and Embedded System (SCOPES), 2016
Substation maintenance is a process of periodic, planned inspection of and, if necessary, repair, and replacement of all switchgear, buildings, and ancillary equipment in substation installations. In simple terms, substation maintenance is a regimen of regular preventative checks and actions carried out to ensure substations are kept in good working ...

Failure analysis of EHV transformers

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1988
Failure activity of different samples of AEP extra high voltage (EHV) transformers is analyzed using estimations of the time-dependent failure rate. This analysis can be applied to investigation of the failure mechanism of 765 kV transformers. A novel method for the probabilistic estimation of the number of future failures is introduced.

EHV underground cable systems

2000 IEEE Power Engineering Society Winter Meeting. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.00CH37077), 2000
This paper discusses the relative advantages and disadvantages of self contained fluid filled cable systems and XLPE power cable systems for EHV applications (400 kV and above). The traditional technology of an impregnated laminar dielectric has provided excellent service performance over many decades.

EHV transmission in urban areas

1968 8th Electrical Insulation Conference, 1968
Providing the most dependable electric service to the maximum number of users at the lowest possible cost has been, and continues to be, the primary goal of the electric utilities of this country. There was a time, in the earlier years of the industry, when the realization of each of these goals presented a real challenge.
