Understanding Micropolar Theory in the Earth Sciences I: The Eigenfrequency $\omega_r$
Even though micropolar theories are widely applied for engineering applications such as the design of metamaterials, applications in the study of the Earth’s interior still remain limited and in particular in seismology.

Shape optimization of eigenfrequencies in MEMS gyroscopes
Abstract Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) gyroscopes are widely used in consumer and automotive applications. They have to fulfill a vast number of product requirements which lead to complex mechanical designs of the resonating structure.

This review summarizes recent progress in meta‐photonics with a focus on bound states in the continuum (BICs) as a powerful platform for light confinement and control. It covers fundamental concepts, design strategies across optical regimes, symmetry breaking for practical quasi‐BICs, tunable and AI‐assisted BIC devices, and emerging applications in ...

Dynamical behaviour of three-way throttle valve with pressure gradient stabilization
Three-way throttle valves with pressure gradient stabilization are used in order to ensure constant flow independently of load changes of hydraulic motors in hydraulic systems. These valves are used to vibration damping in hydraulic systems too. For this

Rigorous Electromagnetic Quasinormal‐Mode Method Made Easy for Users
We present a method that combines numerical techniques with accurate approximations to enable simple and ultrafast computations of the scattered field based on quasinormal modes expansions. The method is made available in the open‐source package MANlite implemented within COMSOL.

Dynamic non‐linear analysis of a cracked blade
A cracked blade non‐linear dynamic analysis was performed, taking into account contact interaction between crack sides. The contact‐induced non‐linear problem was solved by using the harmonic balance method.

Resonant States Reveal Strong Light–Matter Coupling in Nanophotonic Cavities
Photonic resonant states reveal characteristics of coupled light–matter systems that would otherwise be hidden by damping. Their trajectories (when tuning the optical resonance) undergo a qualitative change at the onset of strong coupling: They start swapping positions.
