Eigenstructure Assignment: A Survey

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part I: Journal of Systems and Control Engineering, 1995
This paper surveys the field of eigenstructure assignment literature from the early 1960s to the present. The eigenstructure assignment problem is first defined as the assignment of eigenvectors within an eigenspace associated with each eigenvalue. Four broad approaches to eigenstructure assignment are identified: the protection method, the parametric

Eigenstructure assignment using dynamical compensator

International Journal of Control, 1989
Abstract The problem of eigenstructure assignment via the dynamical compensator of linear systems is dealt with. The sufficient and necessary conditions of permissible radical systems is advanced and compensators of different order are discussed. The minimal order bounds of compensators and a minimal algorithm are given. Several examples are worked out

Decentralized control via eigenstructure assignment

SMC 2000 Conference Proceedings. 2000 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics. 'Cybernetics Evolving to Systems, Humans, Organizations, and their Complex Interactions' (Cat. No.00CH37166), 2002
The problem of achieving stability and block-diagonal dominance for linear large-scale systems by decentralized feedback is considered. Sufficient conditions for stability and block-diagonal dominance of the closed-loop system are introduced. By appropriately assigning the eigenstructure of each isolated subsystem via output feedback or state feedback,

Eigenstructure Assignment by State Feedback

1984 American Control Conference, 1984
The problem of simulataneous assignment of a set of closed loop eigenvalues and eigenvectors using state feedback is discussed. For mutivariable systems, the non-uniqueness of the state feedback gain for assigning a set of eigenvalues of a multivariable system provides the designer freedom in the selection of closed loop eigenvectors.

LQR synthesis via eigenstructure assignment

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1999
Abstract In this paper, a novel relation between the weighting matrix Q in LQR and an eigenstructure of the desired closed-loop system is proposed. The method of a block controller transformation is utilized to develop the scheme. Using the proposed algorithm, the state feedback gain with the desired eigenstructure in the LQR can be obtained.

Structural damage identification using assigned partial eigenstructure

AIAA Journal, 1997
Summary: We present a method of identifying damaged structural elements from measured modal data using an incomplete measurement set. The method uses a mathematical optimization strategy to minimize deviations between measured and analytical modal frequencies and partial mode shapes.

ROBUST EIGENSTRUCTURE ASSIGNMENT: NEW APPROACH

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2005
Abstract This paper considers the problem of robust eigenstructure assignment, which involves finding a feedback gain matrix that makes the closed-loop system insensitive to perturbations or parameter variations. The main contribution of the paper is to derive a new robustness measure using the matrix perturbation theory.

Model Updating Using Constrained Eigenstructure Assignment

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1994
Abstract A technique of constrained eigenstructure assignment (CEA) is presented. The technique can update small order finite element models by using experimental modal analysis data or assign analytical eigenstructure to dynamic models for purposes of simulation and design.

Regional pole assignment with eigenstructure robustness

International Journal of Systems Science, 1997
The paper provides a computational procedure for a type of robust regional pole assignment problem. It allows closed-loop poles to be settled at certain perturbation insensitive locations within some prespecified regions in the complex plane. The novelty of our approach lies in the versatility of the proposed algorithm which provides a rick set of ...

An Eigenstructure Assignment approach (1)

1997
This chapter is a description of the use of one particular methodology of eigenstructure assignment on the Robust Control Aircraft Model (RCAM) challenge as set out in [145]. Emphasis is put on the general methodology in order to concentrate on the similarities between traditional control system design methods and eigenstructure assignment. The results
