Vibration measurement and structural performance evaluation of a 17th century timber guest house in Japan

open access: yesJapan Architectural Review, 2019
To clarify the actual structural performance of an existing traditional timber structure in Japan, vibration measurements were carried out at a 17th century timber guest house (Gekkouden of Gokokuji temple).

Small-Signal Modeling and Parameter Optimization Design for Photovoltaic Virtual Synchronous Generator

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
With the continuous proliferation of renewable energy generation, distributed photovoltaic inverters operating at a maximum power point reduce the inertia of power systems, degrading system frequency stability and potentially causing severe oscillations ...

Root‐Stimulated Movements in Mimosa Pudica for Biohybrid Robotic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that thermal and electrical stimulation of Mimosa pudica root induces movement of the petiole and pinnules without direct stimulation of the aerial organs, thereby enabling a plant‐based robotic gripper and providing a foundation for the development of intelligent and sustainable systems.

Unraveling the Molecular Mechanisms Underlying Spontaneous Multipolar Mitosis Through CIN‐seq

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multipolar mitosis, a hallmark of chromosomal instability (CIN), drives tumor heterogeneity but is challenging to study in live cells. Using CIN‐seq, a single‐cell multiomics method, we profiled rare CIN events and identified mechanisms associated with viable multipolar mitosis, including PTEN attenuation, Rho GTPase‐driven cytokinesis failure, and ...

Rotating Stall Inception Prediction Using an Eigenvalue-Based Global Instability Analysis Method

open access: yesInternational Journal of Turbomachinery, Propulsion and Power
The accurate prediction of rotating stall inception is critical for determining the stable operating regime of a compressor. Among the two widely accepted pathways to stall, namely, modal and spike, the former is plausibly believed to originate from a ...

Finite sample approximation results for principal component analysis: a matrix perturbation approach

open access: yes, 2009
Principal component analysis (PCA) is a standard tool for dimensional reduction of a set of $n$ observations (samples), each with $p$ variables. In this paper, using a matrix perturbation approach, we study the nonasymptotic relation between the ...

Structural Eigenmodes of the Brain to Improve the Source Localization of EEG: Application to Epileptiform Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Geometry and connectivity are complementary structures, which have demonstrated their ability to represent the brain's functional activity. This study evaluates geometric and connectome eigenmodes as biologically informed constraints for EEG source localization.

CoMFA, CoMSIA and Eigenvalue Analysis on Dibenzodioxepinone and Dibenzodioxocinone Derivatives as Cholesteryl Ester Transfer Protein Inhibitors

open access: yesMolecules, 2008
: CoMFA, CoMSIA and eigenvalue analysis (EVA) were performed to study the structural features of 61 diverse dibenzodioxepinone and dibenzodioxocinone analogues to probe cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) inhibitory activity.

Weinberg Eigenvalues and Pairing with Low-Momentum Potentials

open access: yes, 2007
The nonperturbative nature of nucleon-nucleon interactions evolved to low momentum has recently been investigated in free space and at finite density using Weinberg eigenvalues as a diagnostic.

Linearizing and Forecasting: A Reservoir Computing Route to Digital Twins of the Brain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new approach uses simple neural networks to create digital twins of brain activity, capturing how different patterns unfold over time. The method generates and recovers key dynamics even from noisy data. When applied to fMRI, it predicts brain signals and reveals distinctive activity patterns across regions and individuals, opening possibilities for ...
