An upper-lower solution method for the eigenvalue problem of Hadamard-type singular fractional differential equation

open access: yes, 2022
In this paper, we are concerned with the eigenvalue problem of Hadamard-type singular fractional differential equations with multi-point boundary conditions. By constructing the upper and lower solutions of the eigenvalue problem and using the properties

Role of Intrinsic Electron Trapping in Negative Charging of Amorphous Alumina

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intrinsic electron trapping in amorphous Al2O3 is examined using hybrid‐DFT models spanning a wide density range. Both spontaneous and thermally activated trapping are identified, with pronounced spontaneous localization in dense, partly crystallized structures.

On large-scale diagonalization techniques for the Anderson model of localization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We propose efficient preconditioning algorithms for an eigenvalue problem arising in quantum physics, namely the computation of a few interior eigenvalues and their associated eigenvectors for large-scale sparse real and symmetric indefinite matrices of ...

Unraveling the Electronic Structure of Silicon Vacancy Centers in 4H‐SiC

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The electronic structure of the silicon vacancy in 4H‐SiC is probed via transient absorption spectroscopy, uncovering previously inaccessible excited states of the quartet and doublet spin channels, including the V2' transition. In combination with theoretical analysis, a comprehensive picture of the electronic structure is established.

Distribution of Eigenvalues in Multivariate Statistical Analysis

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 1983
Ten invariant multivariate testing problems involving the real, complex, or quaternion structure of covariance matrices are considered. In each problem the maximal invariant statistic and its distribution are described, as well as the maximum likelihood estimators and likelihood ratio test statistics.

Gapless Superconductivity From Extremely Dilute Magnetic Disorder in 2H‐NbSe2‐xSx

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that 2H‐NbSe2‐xSx hosts gapless superconductivity at unexpectedly low magnetic impurity concentrations. Combining STM, Bogoliubovde Gennes simulations, DFT, and quasiparticle interference, we comprehensively study the development of gapless behavior and show that SeS substitution reshapes the band structure, enhances nesting, and drives ...

Agar‐Based Optical Sensing System With a Phosphorescent Grid Pattern for Measuring Stress Distributions of Root Growth Using the Sampling Moiré Method

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This paper presents an agar medium with a phosphorescent grid pattern that measures the stress distribution generated by growing plant roots. Using phosphorescence, the system optically separates the grid pattern from the root and extracts the grid deformation.

Comprehensive Analysis and Stabilization of a B2B HVDC System Connecting Two Extremely Weak Grids Considering the Impact of Power Feedforward Compensation

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Power Electronics
Back-to-Back (B2B) HVDC systems can enhance cross-regional transmission capacity and overall power system stability. However, their use in interconnecting two extremely weak grids can compromise system stability.
