The current study aimed to compare three levels of zinc (40, 80 and 110 mg/kg of diets) as either ZnOHCl or ZnONPs. It is shown that ZnOHCl supplementation in broilers’ diets up to 110 mg was more efficient than ZnONPs in most responses relevant to immunology, growth performance and meat quality.

Cloning and characterization of chicken IL-10 and its role in the immune response to Eimeria maxima [PDF]
We isolated the full-length chicken IL-10 (chIL-10) cDNA from an expressed sequence tag library derived from RNA from cecal tonsils of Eimeria tenella-infected chickens. It encodes a 178-aa polypeptide, with a predicted 162-aa mature peptide.

Characterization of a 14 kDa oocyst wall protein of Eimeria tenella and E. acervulina [PDF]
We have extracted a protein of 14 kDa from purified oocyst walls of several Eimeria species. Polyclonal antibodies were raised in rats against the 14 kDa proteins of E. acervulina and E. tenella. On immunoblots these antisera reacted in a highly specific

Amino acid supplementation can improve the growth performance in broiler chciks challenged with coccidiosis. Arginine supplementation can improve body weight and feed intake under challenge with coccidiosis. The results did not show positive effects of methionine and glutamine under challenge with coccidiosis. Supplementation of threonine improved body

Maternal transfer of antibodies induced by infection with Eimeria maxima partially protects chickens against challenge with Eimeria tenella [PDF]
Infection of breeding hens with Eimeria maxima induces production of Eimeria-specific IgG antibodies which are transferred to hatchlings via the egg yolk and confer a high degree of maternal immunity against homologous challenge and partial immunity to ...

Natural and Experimental Coccidial Infection in the Malayan Red Jungle Fowl (Gallus Gallus Spadiceus) [PDF]
Wild Malayan red jungle fowl faecal samples were examined to determine the prevalence and species of Eimeria from their natural habitat. The birds possessed at least five coccidial species, namely Eimeria mitis, E. acervulina var. diminuta, E.
