Elaeocarpus grandis (Blue Quandong) is a common rainforest tree with a widespread distribution across northeastern Australia, while the related species E. sp. Rocky Creek and E. williamsianus are more restricted in their distribution.

A conspectus of Elaeocarpaceae in Papuasia.
Brunonia, 1978The results of a study of all genera in the family Elaeocarpaceae as found in Papuasia are presented. Keys to all accepted taxa are provided, many epithets are reduced to synonymy and an attempt is made to interpret the remaining 28 specific epithets that are inadequately described and whose types are lost or unavailable.

Phytotaxa, 2019Elaeocarpus L. is the largest genus of the family Elaeocarpaceae represented by about 350 species worldwide (Coode 2004: 142). The arboreal Old World genus is distributed in subtropical Asia and Pacific Islands to Australia and Madagascar except the African continent (Coode 2004: 137, 138).

Progress in the preparation of an account of Elaeocarpaceae for Flora Malesiana is described. Much of the taxonomic work for the largest genus, Elaeocarpus, has already been done by R. Weibel of Geneva. Descriptions and some ‘natural’ keys exist, but need translation and putting into Flora format.
