Comparison of the Elastolytic Effects of Human Leukocyte Elastase and Porcine Pancreatic Elastase

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1976
Porcine and bovine elastins were digested by human leukocyte elastase and porcine pancreatic elastase. The enzymes showed similarities in the extent to which they digested elastin and the pattern and quantitative distribution of N-terminal amino acids in the digests.

In vitro effects of elastase and collagenase on mechanical properties of hamster lungs.

American Review of Respiratory Disease, 2015
A previous study of hamsters, 21 days after intratracheal treatment with pancreatic elastase, showed development of emphysema, shift of the volume-pressure curve up an to the left, with both air and saline filling, and increase in quasistatic lung ...

Studies on the elastase-serum protein interaction II. On the digestion of human α-, an elastase inhibitor, by elastase

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure, 1970
Abstract Previous experiments with elastase (pancreatopeptidase E, EC 3.4.4.7) whole serum mixtures had shown that α 2 - macroglobulin was an elastase inhibitor. These experiments also had shown that the α 2 - macroglobulin-elastase complex was unstable, suggesting the possibility that the inhibitor ( α 2 ...

Shortened Elastase Infusion Time in the Elastase-Induced Rat Aneurysm Model

Journal of Surgical Research, 1999
This study was performed to determine whether it would be possible to shorten the elastase infusion time in the elastase-induced rat aneurysm model. The abdominal aortas of 76 male Sprague-Dawley rats were dissected and infused for 10, 20, 30, 60, or 120 min with a solution containing 14 U of elastase or for 30 min with saline solution (control).

The dose-dependent fate of enzymatically active and inactivated tritiated methylated pancreatic elastase administered intratracheally in the hamster.

American Review of Respiratory Disease, 2015
Hamsters were intratracheally instilled with saline solutions containing a high dose (145 to 220 micrograms) or a low dose (1.3 to 1.5 micrograms) of 3H-methylated pancreatic elastase or N-acetyl-(L-alanyl)3-L-alanine chloromethyl ketone-inactivated 3H ...

Macrophage elastase

2004
Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on the structural chemistry of macrophage elastase. Macrophage elastase is a member of the matrix metalloproteinase family and hence its alternate name is matrix metalloproteinase-12 (MMP-12). Murine macrophage elastase cDNA codes for a proenzyme of 53 kDa.

Elastin‐Elastases and Inflamm‐Aging

2007
Degradation of elastin, the main amorphous component of elastic fibers, by elastases belonging to the serine, metallo, or cysteine families leads to the generation of elastin fragments, designated as elastokines in keeping with their cytokine-like properties.
