Moving frames applied to shell elasticity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Exterior calculus and moving frames are used to describe curved elastic shells. The kinematics follow from the Lie-derivative on forms whereas the dynamics via stress-forms.

Determining the constitutive behavior of nonlinear visco-elastic-plastic PMMA thin films using nanoindentation and finite element simulation

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2021
Understanding the nonlinear visco-elastic-plastic behavior and properties of PMMA thin films during nanoindentation is helpful for predicting the plastic deformation of thermoplastic polymer products during manufacture and evaluating stress to predict ...

Multifunctional Design of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Structures for Temporary Pediatric Fixation Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A metallic implant's higher stiffness compared to the surrounding bone leads to stress shielding problems, causing bone density reduction and bone growth interference in pediatric patients. 3D‐printed triply periodic minimal surface structures present a promising engineering solution.

Relaxed Elastic Line On An Oriented Surface In The Galilean Space [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
In this paper, we consider the classical variational problem in the Galilean space. we develop the Euler-Lagrange equations for a elastic line on an oriented surface in the Galilean 3-dimensional space $G_3$. Using the varia- tion method, we will try to give some characterization for the solution curve (the elastic line) of energy equation described by

Soft‐Layered Composites with Wrinkling‐Activated Multi‐Linear Elastic Behavior, Stress Mitigation, and Enhanced Strain Energy Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, exciting new bi‐/multi‐linear elastic behavior of soft elastic composites that accompany the activation of wrinkling in the embedded interfacial layers is analyzed. The new features and performance of these composite materials, including dramatic enhancements in energy storage, can be tailored by the concentration of interfacial layers ...

An Analytical Model for Estimating Alveolar Wall Elastic Moduli From Lung Tissue Uniaxial Stress-Strain Curves

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2020
The non-linear stress-strain behavior of uniaxially-stretched lung parenchyma is thought to be an emergent phenomenon arising from the ensemble behavior of its microscopic constituents.

Development and Validation of a One‐Dimensional Finite Difference Simulation Scheme for Polymer Laser Powder Bed Fusion with Application to the Effect of the Inter Layer Time

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study presents an efficient simulation approach for the polymer laser powder bed fusion process polymers process, validated with polyamide 12, polyamide 6, and polyetherketoneketone. It shows that inter layer time affects part density, with 90s yielding dense parts.
