Axial Compression Behaviour and Modelling of Pultruded Basalt-Fibre-Reinforced Polymer (BFRP) Tubes
Laminated fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) tubes are increasingly used as compression members in large-span spatial structures due to their high bearing capacity, corrosion resistance, and superior stability compared to high-strength steel pipes.

Morphological analysis of cells by means of an elastic metric in the shape space [PDF]
Shape analysis is of great importance in many fields, such as computer vision, medical imaging, and computational biology. This analysis can be performed considering shapes as closed planar curves in the shape space.

On the new approach for the energy of elastica
In this work, we firstly describe conditions for being elastica in Minkowski space E41. Then we investigate the energy of the elastic curves and exploit its relationship with the energy of Bishop vectors belong to that elastic curves E41.

Fractal pattern formation at elastic-plastic transition in heterogeneous materials [PDF]
Fractal patterns are observed in computational mechanics of elastic-plastic transitions in two models of linear elastic/perfectly-plastic random heterogeneous materials: (1) a composite made of locally isotropic grains with weak random fluctuations in ...

Characteristics of energy evolution during total stress-strain in rocks under uniaxial compression
To study the energy evolution of rocks under uniaxial compression, uniaxial compression and uniaxial step loading and unloading tests were performed on granite, sandstone, and coal, and the stress-strain curves under different conditions were obtained ...

Curves in the Lorentz-Minkowski plane: elasticae, catenaries and grim-reapers
This article is motivated by a problem posed by David A. Singer in 1999 and by the classical Euler elastic curves. We study spacelike and timelike curves in the Lorentz-Minkowski plane 𝕃2 whose curvature is expressed in terms of the Lorentzian ...

How a Curved Elastic Strip Opens [PDF]
An elastic strip is transversely clamped in a curved frame. The induced curvature decreases as the strip opens and connects to its flat natural shape. Various ribbon profiles are measured and the scaling law for the opening length validates a description where the in-plane stretching gradually relaxes the bending stress.

Motivated by the problem of finding an explicit description of a developable narrow Moebius strip of minimal bending energy, which was first formulated by M. Sadowsky in 1930, we will develop the theory of elastic strips. Recently E.L.

Mechanical Characterization of Anchor under Uniaxial Compression Loading Conditions
Bolt reinforcement technology plays an important role in supporting the construction of many engineering fields, and the uniaxial loading characteristics and behavior tests of anchors have great significance to the research and application of anchors ...
