Atomistic Insights into the Phase Transformation of Single-Crystal Silicon during Nanoindentation
The influence of the indenter angle on the deformation mechanisms of single-crystal Si was analyzed via molecular dynamics simulations of the nanoindentation process. Three different types of diamond conical indenters with semi-angles of 45°, 60°, and 70°

Curves in the Lorentz-Minkowski plane: elasticae, catenaries and grim-reapers
This article is motivated by a problem posed by David A. Singer in 1999 and by the classical Euler elastic curves. We study spacelike and timelike curves in the Lorentz-Minkowski plane 𝕃2 whose curvature is expressed in terms of the Lorentzian ...

A Unified Nonlinear Elastic Model for Rock Material
Under conditions of low or medium stress, rocks that are in the compression state exhibit perceivable nonlinear elastic characteristics. After a comprehensive review of the existing nonlinear elastic models of rocks and joints, we proposed a new unified ...

Generalized Elastic Translating Solitons [PDF]
We study translating soliton solutions to the flow by powers of the curvature of curves in the plane. We characterize these solitons as critical curves for functionals depending on the curvature. More precisely, translating solitons to the flow by powers of the curvature are shown to be generalized elastic curves.

Curve straightening and a minimax argument for closed elastic curves
THE RESULTS obtained here have to do with the following problem. Imagine the ends of a straight length of springy wire are joined together smoothly and the wire is held in some configuration described by an immersion y of the circle into the plane or into R3.

Test of Uniaxial Tensile Mechanical Properties of ECTFE Foils at Various Temperatures
Uniaxial tensile tests of ethylene-chloro-tri-fluoro-ethylene (ECTFE) foils were conducted at a thickness of 250 μm and various low and high temperatures (-50, -40, -30, -20, -10, 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80 ℃).
