Mechanical properties of hybrid fiber reinforced coral concrete
This paper investigated the effect of microfibers (carbon fibers and basalt fibers) and macrofibers (plastic steel fibers) on the mechanical properties of coral concrete. A total of 192 specimens were designed with carbon fibers (CFs), basalt fibers (BFs)

A Dislocation Perspective on Strength and Toughness in Ceramics
Dislocations in ceramics enjoy a long but yet under‐appreciated history. The three research waves for dislocations in ceramics highlight the topic evolution over the last 90 years. This review focuses on the impact of dislocation on strength and toughness in ceramics.

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

This work shows that the mechanical performance of multimaterial digital light processing (DLP) printed thermoset composites is governed by resin compatibility and interfacial design rather than spatial patterning alone. Brittle and ductile resin combinations produced premature interfacial failure, while graded interfaces and mechanically compatible ...

This article presents an experimental and numerical modal investigation of composite sandwich structures using surfboards as model systems. By comparing different core materials and reinforcement strategies, the study demonstrates how local stiffeners influence vibrational response and introduce characteristic modal features, highlighting modal ...

Lung morphometry, collagen and elastin content: changes after hyperoxic exposure in preterm rabbits
INTRODUCTION: Elastic and collagen fiber deposition increases throughout normal lung development, and this fiber network significantly changes when development of the lung is disturbed.

X‐ray computed tomography reveals how process‐induced defects evolve from green to sintered states in Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF)‐manufactured 17‐4PH stainless steel. Internal porosity, weakest cross‐sections, and fracture locations show strong correlation with tensile performance, demonstrating the potential of computed tomography (CT)‐based ...

In vivo imaging of elastic fibers using sulforhodamine B.
International audienceUntil now, the imaging of elastic fibers was restricted to tissue sections using the endofluorescence properties of elastin or histological dyes. Methods to study their morphology in vivo and in situ have been lacking.
