Einstein-Cartan theory as a theory of defects in space-time
The Einstein-Cartan theory of gravitation and the classical theory of defects in an elastic medium are presented and compared. The former is an extension of general relativity and refers to four-dimensional space-time, while we introduce the latter as a ...

Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Recovering Quantum Logic within an Extended Classical Framework
We present a procedure which allows us to recover classical and nonclassical logical structures as \emph{concrete logics} associated with physical theories expressed by means of classical languages. This procedure consists in choosing, for a given theory

Elastocapillary Levelling of Thin Viscous Films on Soft Substrates [PDF]
A thin liquid film with non-zero curvature at its free surface spontaneously flows to reach a flat configuration, a process driven by Laplace pressure gradients and resisted by the liquid's viscosity.

Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Two Novel Vlasov Models for Bending Analysis of Finite-Length Beams Embedded in Elastic Foundations
The issue of soil–structure interaction (SSI) is essentially to analyze the influence of complex media on the mechanical behavior of supported structures.

Self-gravitating elastic bodies [PDF]
Extended objects in GR are often modelled using distributional solutions of the Einstein equations with point-like sources, or as the limit of infinitesimally small "test" objects.

Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Nonlinear dynamic response of ES-FGM plate under blast load
The paper studies nonlinear dynamic response of an eccentrically stiffened FGM (ES-FGM) plates resting on the elastic foundations subjected to blast and thermal loads with temperature dependent material properties using the Reddy's higher order shear ...
