Elastic fracture in random materials
Physical Review B, 1988We analyze a simple model of elastic failure in randomly inhomogeneous materials such as minerals and ceramics. We study a two-dimensional triangular lattice with nearest-neighbor harmonic springs. The springs are present with probability p. The springs can only withstand a small strain before they fail completely and irreversibly.

Nonlinear elasticity in nanostructured materials
Reports on Progress in Physics, 2011We elaborate on a blended continuum/atomistic theoretical picture of the nonlinear elastic properties of nanostructured materials, looking at diverse aspects such as dispersions of inhomogeneities within a matrix, random or graded nanograined materials, two-dimensional atomic sheets.

Elastic‐plastic materials as simple materials
ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1973AbstractA theory including classical elastic‐plastic materials is derived as a special case of the theory of simple material under certain hypotheses of smoothness and rate‐independence. The concepts of yield functions and flow rules of the classical theories are shown to be defined by the stress functional of a simple material under these smoothness ...

A Class of Hypo-Elastic Non-Elastic Materials and their Thermodynamics
Archive for Rational Mechanics and Analysis, 1984The authors study thermo-hypo-elastic equations and demonstrate that this equations are consistent with the first and second laws of thermodynamics. They obtain this equations by using the standard thermodynamical technique. The hypo-elastic equations which result in isothermal limit \((\dot T=0)\) admit no elastical solutions.

Elastic and plastic properties of elastic dental impression materials
Dental Materials, 1985Abstract Strain in compression, compression set, stiffness and Shore A hardness of 36 brands of elastic dental impression materials have been determined. There was no correlation between compression set and the other properties tested, while statistically highly significant correlations were found between strain in compression, stiffness and Shore A ...

Universal Relations for Elastically Isotropic Elastic-Plastic Materials
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1991The objective of this note is to obtain universal relations for any isotropic elastic-plastic or elastic-viscoplastic materials of hyperelastic type. Using thermodynamic quantities (plastic deformation), isotropic and directional hardening, temperature, free energy, entropy, etc.

The Thermodynamics of Elastic-Plastic Materials
1991The consequences of and the relationship among the second law of thermodynamics and the stability conditions of Il‘yushin’s type are studied. The construction of the thermodynamic potentials based on these conditions are given and the circumstances under which the potentials are unique are discussed.

Elastic modulus of trabecular bone material
Journal of Biomechanics, 1988An ultrasonic technique was used to measure both the elastic modulus (Young's modulus) of trabecular bone material and the elastic modulus of the cancellous structure. The average trabecular modulus, measured on specimens obtained from three human and one bovine distal femora, was 13.0 GPa (S.D. 1.47) and 10.9 GPa (S.D. 1.57), respectively.

A comparison of elastic impression materials
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1975T ests for accuracy and other characteristics of elastic impression materials generally fall into one or more categories. These are: (1) Linear tests which measure the material itself (usually unidimensional) .le5 (2) Tests which depend upon the formation and measurement of gypsum dies made from the impression materials.
