A Fourier series solution for the transverse vibration of rotating beams with elastic boundary supports

Applied Acoustics, 2019
Abstract Rotating beams are usually encountered in various dynamic analyses of rotation machineries, most of the current studies are mainly focused on the classical boundary conditions. From the viewpoint of engineering practice, elastic boundary supports will be of more significance.

The in-plane free vibration of an elastically supported thin ring rotating at high speeds revisited

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2017
Abstract The in-plane free vibration of a rotating thin ring is revisited in this paper. A new model is proposed which accounts for the elastic foundation and the through-thickness variation of the radial stress. The emphasis is placed on a proper consideration of the geometrical nonlinearity, which is essential for the consistent modelling of the ...

An Adjustable Elastic Support Structure for Vibration Suppression of Rotating Machinery

Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power
Abstract The dynamic characteristic of a rotor-support system plays a crucial role in the operational efficiency and longevity of rotating machinery such as gas turbines. Traditional support structures with the fixed-parameter elastic stiffness have difficulties in adapting to the diverse and complex working conditions of flexible ...

A Modal Based Approach for the Lateral Dynamic Analysis of Rotating Shafts Supported by Elastic Substructures

Volume 7A: Structures and Dynamics, 2018
It is well known that the detailed modelling of the structures supporting modern, heavy-duty gas turbines is essential for accurately estimating the dynamic behaviour of the complete coupled system. In this paper, the equations of motion governing the lateral dynamics of a rotating shaft supported by an elastic substructure are assembled by making ...

COMPLEX ROTATION OF A THIN-WALLED SINGLE SUPPORT ROTOR ON AN ELASTIC SHAFT

AUTOMOBILE ROADS AND ROAD CONSTRUCTION
Abstract. The rotors of modern aircraft are usually created through a combination of elastic shafts, thin-walled disks, shells and thin twisted blades. Features of the dynamic behavior of elastic rotating systems are associated with the fact that their elements, when oscillating, simultaneously participate in various types of movements and are affected

In-plane vibrations of portal frames with end supports elastically restrained against rotation and translation

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1987
The title problem is solved by using classical beam theory. The general problem has not been treated previously in the technical literature and is quite important from a structural dynamics viewpoint since ideal boundary conditions—frictionless pins or clamps of infinite rigidity—cannot be met in realistic technological situations.

FREE VIBRATION AND BUCKLING OF IN-PLANE LOADED PLATES WITH ROTATIONAL ELASTIC EDGE SUPPORT

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2000
The superposition method is employed to obtain buckling loads and free vibration frequencies for a family of elastically supported rectangular plates subjected to one-directional uniform in-plane loading. Two edges running in the direction of the in-plane loading are free.

Elastic Vibrations of a Single-Support Thin-Walled Rotor (Compound Shell) During Complex Rotation

International Applied Mechanics, 2003
Steady precession vibrations of a single-support thin-walled rotor whose rotation axis is forced to make an additional rotation are simulated numerically. It is established that compared with double-support rotors, single-support rotors are more dynamically compliant and undergo two precession resonances over the range of rotation speeds being ...

Effect of Elastic Support on the Vibration Characteristics of Rotating Thin-Walled Beams

International Journal of Structural Stability and Dynamics
With respect to the dynamics of the rotor system of articulated helicopters, the clamped boundary cannot accurately describe the real situation of the blade–hub connection conditions, whereas the introduction of elastic boundary conditions can more precisely determine the dynamic response of the rotor system. Moreover, to meet the requirements of light

In-plane vibrations of a circumferential arch elastically restrained against rotation at one end and with an intermediate support

Applied Acoustics, 1987
Abstract The determination of the fundamental frequency of in-plane vibration of the structural system described in the title is tackled using three different approaches: (a) an optimized Rayleigh-Ritz method; (b) a modified Dunkerley's method; (c) the finite element formulation.
