Abstract In the present study, a rotating functionally graded cylindrical shell (FGM) with imperfectly surface bounded functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) subjected to an axisymmetric hygrothermo-electro-mechanical loading is considered. The shell is simply supported and could be rested on an elastic foundation.

To the optical mechanical complexes of tracking and positioning, strict requirements are produced on the dynamics and permissible errors under such conditions as external and internal nonstationary disturbances, as well as presence of elastic deformations in the links of the driven mechanism.

Abstract In this paper, the superposition method is exploited to obtain a solution for the free vibration of thin rectangular plates resting on elastic edge supports of arbitrarily distributed stiffnesses. Stiffnesses are represented in series form, thereby permitting the specification of any distributions, including concentrated stiffnesses and ...

Rectangular plates are found in most structures of modern industry. Their two-dimensional structural action results in lighter structures and therefore offers numerous economic advantages. Recently interest in rectangular plates increased due to rapid growth in electronic technology where electronic circuit boards in the form of thin rectangular plates

In this paper a simplified model of a rotating tire is developed and free vibrations of the tire are analysed on an example case. The tire belt is modelled as a rotating cylindrical shell. The shell ends are assumed to be with free boundary conditions.

In the study of the rotor dynamic performances of a rotating machine, it is possible to divide the plant in four main components: rotor, stator, bearings and supporting structure. The current trend for rotating machinery considers the reduction of weight an important problem.
