An operational windmill in an open-air museum as a conservation challenge: Lessons from projects recently implemented in Poland [PDF]
The article discusses the methods of protecting historic windmills and recognising them as valuable objects of industrial heritage. Therefore, examples of attempts to restore windmills as working mills after 2010 are discussed.

The detection of the electric field vertical distribution underneath thundercloud: Principle and applications [PDF]
During the Florida 89 experiment at Kennedy Space Center, a new system was used in order to obtain the vertical distribution of the electric field underneath thunderstorms. It consists of a standard shutter field mill at ground level and five other field

Hyper-Selective Plasmonic Color Filters [PDF]
The subwavelength mode volumes of plasmonic filters are well matched to the small size of state-of-the-art active pixels (~ 1 {\mu}m) in CMOS image sensor arrays used in portable electronic devices.

Retrieving Storm Electric Fields from Aircraft Field Mill Data. Part I: Theory
Abstract It is shown that the problem of retrieving storm electric fields from an aircraft instrumented with several electric field mill sensors can be expressed in terms of a standard Lagrange multiplier optimization problem. The method naturally removes aircraft charge from the retrieval process without having to use a high-voltage ...

Thermal transport in Ru and W thin films is studied using steady‐state thermoreflectance, ultrafast pump–probe spectroscopy, infrared‐visible spectroscopy, and computations. Significant Lorenz number deviations reveal strong phonon contributions, reaching 45% in Ru and 62% in W.

Classification of Particles Dispersed by Bead Milling Using Electrical Field-Flow Fractionation
The purpose of the present study is to develop a new nanoparticle-classification technique to replace centrifugal separation method. To identify size-dependent particle properties, we investigated the dispersion, classification, and surface potential of silica particles treated with a bead mill, which was used to create a nanoparticle dispersion.
