Design and Optimization of Field Mill Sensors for Accurate Measurement of HVdc Ground Electric Fields Based on Amplifier Parallel Optimization and Wavelet Decomposition Techniques

open access: yesIEEE Access
With the rapid development of high-voltage direct current (HVdc) transmission technology, the demand for monitoring the DC total electric field at ground level has increased significantly.

Aircraft measurements of electrified clouds at Kennedy Space Center, part 3 [PDF]

open access: yes
Flights made by the Special Purpose Test Vehicle for Atmospheric Research (SPTVAR) airplane during a second deployment to Florida during the summer of 1989 are discussed. The findings based on the data gathered are presented. The progress made during the

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Chinese Meridian Project near-surface atmospheric electric field observations

open access: yes地球与行星物理论评
The near-surface atmospheric electric field is an important parameter in disciplines such as space physics and atmospheric science. Variations in the atmospheric electric field represent the state of the global atmospheric circuit and charge distribution

Assembly and transport of nematic colloidal swarms above photo-patterned defects and surfaces

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2018
We investigate the dynamic assembly and swarm translocation of anisometric colloidal particles dispersed in a nematic liquid crystal and driven above a photosensitive surface. We use liquid crystal-enabled electrophoresis to propel these particles via an

Rotationally Vibrating Electric-Field Mill [PDF]

open access: yes
A proposed instrument for measuring a static electric field would be based partly on a conventional rotating-split-cylinder or rotating-split-sphere electric-field mill.

Uncertainty Analysis of an Electric Field Mill Calibration System

open access: yesNCSL International Workshop & Symposium Conference Proceedings 2017, 2017
Abstract: We present the uncertainty analysis for an electric field mill calibration system used at the Sandia Primary Standards Laboratory. The uncertainty analysis incorporates contributions from DC voltage supplied by a high voltage amplifier; the distance between an electrically isolated charge plate and the ground plate of a stainless steel test ...

A new network of electric field mills at the Pierre Auger Observatory

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2022
Abstract The Pierre Auger Observatory is the largest ground-based experiment for the detection of ultra-high energy cosmic rays. In a hybrid approach, many detectors – including radio antennas – observe the extensive air showers induced by cosmic rays.

Flexibility and Dynamicity Enhances and Controls Supramolecular Self‐Assembly of Zinc(II) Metallogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Zinc(II) coordination complexes with tunable aryloxy‐imine ligands exhibit controllable supramolecular self‐assembly into hierarchical fibrous structures. Coordination‐driven stacking, not π–π interactions, enables gelation, dynamic assembly/disassembly, and enhanced nanomechanical properties.

A traveling wave decelerator for neutral polar molecules [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Recently, a decelerator for neutral polar molecules has been presented that operates on the basis of macroscopic, three-dimensional, traveling electrostatic traps (Osterwalder et al., Phys. Rev. A 81, 051401 (2010)).
