Nonperturbing electric field sensor for near field measurement

1998 Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements Digest (Cat. No.98CH36254), 2002
We present a novel electric field measurement system utilising optical technology, which has been developed, tested and calibrated for near field measurement in the frequency region up to 1.8 GHz. The measuring probe is passive, all-dielectric and EMI immune.

Fiber-optic electric field sensor

Annual Meeting Optical Society of America, 1986
A novel type of fiber-optic electric field sensor has been demonstrated. This device was fabricated by fusing piezoelectrically sensitized fibers into a fiber-optic Mach-Zehnder interferometer testbed. Quadrature stabilization for the interferometer test-bed was provided by an active homodyne scheme.

Integrated optical waveguide electric field sensor for lightning electric field measurements

SPIE Proceedings, 2009
In this work, an integrated optical waveguide electric field sensor with segmented electrodes is designed and fabricated for measurement of lightning impulse electric field. First, the compositions of the sensing system were described briefly.

Thernally Driven Miniature Electric Field Sensor

2006 1st IEEE International Conference on Nano/Micro Engineered and Molecular Systems, 2006
A thermally driven miniature electric field sensor (MEFS) has been designed, fabricated and tested. It is mainly comprised of shielding electrodes, bent beam thermal driver, positive and negative sense electrodes and drive pads etc, the shielding electrodes are driven by a cascaded bent beam thermal driver to periodically cover or expose the positive ...

Electric field sensors in electromagnetic sounding

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 1989
A staked and an insulated dipole antenna were used to monitor transmissions from a distant very-low-frequency transmitter. The field strength recorded from the staked antenna was found to be much larger than that recorded from the insulated antenna. It is shown that this can be adequately described as magnetic field induction.

DUAL SPHERICAL ELECTRIC FIELD VOLTAGE SENSOR

Piezoelectric fiber optic electric field sensor

Ferroelectrics Letters Section, 1988
Abstract Two types of fiber optic interferometric electric sensors have been demonstrated where the fibers have been sensitized to electric fields in a novel way. In the first case, the fibers were embedded in a piezoelectric barium titanium silicate (fresnoite) glass-ceramic, and in the second case, in a PZT-polymer composite matrix.

Fiber Optic Electric Field Sensor Technology

SPIE Proceedings, 1987
The properties of piezoactive plastics are reviewed as well as the fiber-optic electric field sensors studied so far. A particular configuration consisting of a concentric piezoactive jacket on the glass fiber is discussed in detail and the frequency response of this sensor is projected over a wide range of frequencies.

Low-cost DC electric field sensor

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 2007
The present communication suggests a novel relatively simple easy to build inexpensive DC and ULF electric field sensor. The present device can be regarded as a member in a class of sensors whose sensing ability is due to the steady repetitive movement of their electrodes.

Optical-fiber copolymer-film electric-field sensor

Applied Optics, 1983
Characteristics of a fiber-optic sensor for the detection of external electric fields are presented. This device utilizes a single-mode fiber that is embedded in a poled vinylidene fluoride-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer film and incorporated as the sensor arm of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer.
