Electric field sensors in electromagnetic sounding
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 1989A staked and an insulated dipole antenna were used to monitor transmissions from a distant very-low-frequency transmitter. The field strength recorded from the staked antenna was found to be much larger than that recorded from the insulated antenna. It is shown that this can be adequately described as magnetic field induction.

DUAL SPHERICAL ELECTRIC FIELD VOLTAGE SENSOR

Piezoelectric fiber optic electric field sensor
Ferroelectrics Letters Section, 1988Abstract Two types of fiber optic interferometric electric sensors have been demonstrated where the fibers have been sensitized to electric fields in a novel way. In the first case, the fibers were embedded in a piezoelectric barium titanium silicate (fresnoite) glass-ceramic, and in the second case, in a PZT-polymer composite matrix.

Fiber Optic Electric Field Sensor Technology
SPIE Proceedings, 1987The properties of piezoactive plastics are reviewed as well as the fiber-optic electric field sensors studied so far. A particular configuration consisting of a concentric piezoactive jacket on the glass fiber is discussed in detail and the frequency response of this sensor is projected over a wide range of frequencies.

Low-cost DC electric field sensor
Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 2007The present communication suggests a novel relatively simple easy to build inexpensive DC and ULF electric field sensor. The present device can be regarded as a member in a class of sensors whose sensing ability is due to the steady repetitive movement of their electrodes.

Optical-fiber copolymer-film electric-field sensor
Applied Optics, 1983Characteristics of a fiber-optic sensor for the detection of external electric fields are presented. This device utilizes a single-mode fiber that is embedded in a poled vinylidene fluoride-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer film and incorporated as the sensor arm of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer.

Electro-optic polymer electric field sensor
SPIE Proceedings, 2011Modern electronics are often shielded with metallic packaging to protect them from harmful electromagnetic radiation. In order to determine the effectiveness of the electronic shielding, there is a need to perform non-intrusive measurements of the electric field within the shielding.

Vacuum Steered-Electron Electric-Field Sensor
Journal of Microelectromechanical Systems, 2014In a new type of microelectromechanical system (MEMS) electric-field sensor, a sheet of electrons is thermionically emitted by a hot cathode, flows through a vacuum, and is collected by a pair of anodes 2000 μm away. As the electrons move through the vacuum, they are steered by external electric fields, resulting in a differential current at the anodes.

Magnetic and Electric Field Sensors
2015The main application for magnetic and electric field fiber optic sensors has been the electric power industry. The ability to dielectrically isolate equipment and personnel from high power provides an attractive feature in terms of safety and, ultimately, cost for fiber optic systems versus those using conventional technology.

Wideband Photonics Electric Field Sensor
1999Abstract : SRICO developed a wideband photonics electric field sensing system capable of measuring signals up to 18 GHz. The electric field sensor is a passive integrated optic Mach-Zehnder interferometer device. The sensor is made from all-dielectric materials without any electrical connections.
