Transient calibration of electric field sensors

IEE Proceedings - Science, Measurement and Technology, 1999
An electric field sensor calibration system that operates in the time-domain is described and its accuracy is assessed. The system makes use of a broadband, unterminated transient test cell that is simple to construct by comparison with matched TEM or GTEM cells.

Coupled electric field sensors for DC target electric field detection

2008
In various embodiments, an apparatus for detecting electric fields is disclosed that includes an array of non-linear elements configured into an oscillator with each coupled to one or more electric-field sensing plates. In various embodiments, an output of the array produces a frequency that varies as a function of an electric field sensed by the one ...

A Fiber Optic DC And Low Frequency Electric Field Sensor

Optical Fiber Sensors, 1991
We demonstrate a novel fiber-optic interferometric dc and low frequency electric field sen sor based on the electrostrictive effect in a Ba:PZT transducer. The sensor exhibits a minimum detectable electric field of 0.01 V/m/spl radic/Hz at 1 Hz using 9 cm of fiber.

ARES, atmospheric relaxation and electric field sensor, the electric field experiment on NETLANDER

Planetary and Space Science, 2000
Abstract The conditions which prevail in the atmospheres of most planets in the Solar System, in particular the telluric ones, are likely to give rise to their electrification. The resulting processes, which are of major importance for meteorology and climatology on Earth, may also be significant for atmospheric and surface processes on the other ...

Broadband Electric-Field Sensor Array Technology

2012
Abstract : We report the development of a broadband electric field sensor array technology to detect radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic energy. An approach based on planar electro-optical resonators is considered. We have developed sensors based on electro-optic polymers and sensors based on a hybrid material system consisting of silicon and lithium ...

Electric Field Characteristics of Bipolar Impedance Sensors

2009
There has been an increased interest in the last decade on Lab-on-a-Chip (LOAC) technologies, which concentrate on the detection and manipulation of biomolecules. Impedance detection plays a vital role in these developments. There are various types of impedance sensors, with four electrode systems being the focus of the work presented here. However, in
