Impact of Unintentional Oxygen Doping on Organic Photodetectors [PDF]

open access: yesOrganic Electron. 54, 64-71 (2018), 2017
Oxygen plasma is a widely used treatment to change the surface properties of organic layers. This treatment is particularly interesting to enable the deposition from solution of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) on top of the active layer of organic solar cells or photodetectors.

Physicochemical behaviour and structural characteristics of membrane-bound acetylcholinesterase from Torpedo electric organ. Effect of phosphatidylinositol-specific phospholipase C.

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1985
Quantitative solubilization of the phospholipid-associated form of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) from Torpedo electric organ can be achieved in the absence of detergent by treatment with phosphatidylinositol-specific phospholipase C (PIPLC) from ...

An Electrically Switchable Metal-Organic Framework [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2014
Crystalline metal organic framework (MOF) materials containing interconnected porosity can be chemically modified to promote stimulus-driven (light, magnetic or electric fields) structural transformations that can be used in a number of devices. Innovative research strategies are now focused on understanding the role of chemical bond manipulation to ...

Electric-induced reversal of morphogenesis in Hydra [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Morphogenesis involves the dynamic interplay of biochemical, mechanical and electrical processes. Here we ask: to what extent can the course of morphogenesis be modulated and controlled by an external electric field? We show that above a critical amplitude, an external electric field can halt morphogenesis in Hydra regeneration.

Isolation of pure cholinergic nerve endings from Torpedo electric organ. Evaluation of their metabolic properties

open access: yesJournal of Cell Biology, 1977
Pure cholinergic nerve endings (synaptosomes) were isolated from the electric organ of Torpedo by a rapid procedure. These synaptosomes are approximately 3 micron in diameter.

Hydrogel‐Based Capacitive Sensor Model for Ammonium Monitoring in Aquaculture

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Traditional techniques for monitoring aquaculture water quality, particularly ammonium levels, harm fish. This work presents a novel capacitive sensor with an ionic hydrogel transducer to monitor ammonium concentration in real time based on the ammonium‐induced hydrogel dissociation and osmotic pressure. Monitoring aquaculture water quality, especially

Why the brown ghost chirps at night

open access: yeseLife
Since the pioneering work by Moeller, Szabo, and Bullock, weakly electric fish have served as a valuable model for investigating spatial and social cognitive abilities in a vertebrate taxon usually less accessible than mammals or other terrestrial ...
