Feasibility of Hybriding Very High‐Power Short‐Duration and Ablation Index‐Guided Pulmonary Vein Isolation

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 41, Issue 5, October 2025.
Compared to conventional Ablation Index (AI)‐guided ablation, the hybrid AI + very high‐power short‐duration (vHPSD) strategy significantly reduced pulmonary vein isolation time (28 ± 11 vs. 35 ± 10 min, p < 0.001), with comparable first‐pass isolation (86% vs. 89%, p = 0.63), acute reconnection (10% vs. 5%, p = 0.23), complication rates (1.3% vs. 1.3%)

Internal vs. External Electrical Cardioversion of Atrial Arrhythmia in Patients with Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator: A Randomized Clinical Trial.

open access: yesCirculation, 2019
BACKGROUND Atrial arrhythmias are common in patients with implantable cardioverterdefibrillator (ICD). External shocks and internal cardioversion through commanded ICD shock for electrical cardioversion are used for rhythm-control.

Predictors of success of electrical cardioversion for atrial fibrillation

open access: yesCorSalud, 2016
Introduction: Electrical cardioversion is an effective therapeutic procedure to restore sinus rhythm in atrial fibrillation, and its success has been related to different variables.

Echocardiographic Markers of Prognosis in Patients Undergoing Ventricular Arrhythmia Ablation

open access: yesEchocardiography, Volume 42, Issue 10, October 2025.
This study found no significant associations between echocardiographic measurements and VA recurrence in patients undergoing first‐time RFA. However, both LVMi, LVEF, and GLS were found to be independently associated with life‐threatening arrhythmia and all‐cause mortality.

The Resurfacing of Bepridil Hydrochloride on the World Stage as an Antiarrhythmic Drug for Atrial Fibrillation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Bepridil hydrochloride is a multiple ion channel blocker with relatively strong suppressive effects for various K+ channels. Recent clinical studies mainly done in Japan have revealed the eficacy of the agent for the management of atrial fibrillation (AF)

Atrial Fibrillation (AF) and Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF): Advances and Challenges

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, Volume 36, Issue 10, Page 2720-2745, October 2025.
ABSTRACT This state‐of‐the‐art review is based on the Philippe Coumel Lecture in 2024 (Figure 1). It highlights the confluence of two major cardiovascular epidemics, atrial fibrillation and heart failure, with preserved ejection fraction. In these conditions, advances in electrophysiology and heart failure physiology are intertwined and are integrated ...

The RITMIA™ Smartphone App for Automated Detection of Atrial Fibrillation: Accuracy in Consecutive Patients Undergoing Elective Electrical Cardioversion

open access: yesBioMed Research International, 2019
Background The RITMIA™ app (Heart Sentinel™, Parma, Italy) is a novel application that combined with a wearable consumer-grade chest-strap Bluetooth heart rate monitor, provides automated detection of atrial fibrillation (AF), and may be promising for ...

Impact of Pulmonary Vein Isolation on Atrial Fibrillation Organisation: Correlation of Intracardiac and Surface Electrocardiogram Measures

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, Volume 36, Issue 10, Page 2529-2538, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction Electrical activity in atrial fibrillation (AF) ranges from organized focal drivers to multiple wavelet re‐entry. Understanding the effect of pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) on AF organization is clinically important, as it may optimize treatment strategies and outcomes.

Unravelling Sex Disparities in the Pathophysiology of Atrial Fibrillation: Review of the Current Evidence

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, Volume 36, Issue 10, Page 2608-2619, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained arrhythmia associated with increased risks of stroke, heart failure, and mortality. Men experience AF more frequently than women, but women are more likely to suffer greater symptoms and reduced quality of life as a consequence of AF onset.
