Decentralised rural electrification
Refocus, 2000Publisher Summary Rural areas of poorer countries are often at a disadvantage in terms of access to all types of services-roads, health facilities, markets, information, and clean water. The high cost of providing these services in remote areas has led to new approaches being tried, based on self-help and the private sector rather than traditional ...

Financing for rural electrification
2012 IEEE Conference on Computational Intelligence for Financial Engineering & Economics (CIFEr), 2012Financing rural electrification projects successfully requires the understanding and implementation of certain factors connected wholly or partly to the make-up and functionality of the project. Among these factors are aspects related to project affordability, reliability, sustainability, and present as well as future development.

Initiation of an Electrification Into Operation
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1930This paper describes the energizing and putting into service of the Pennsylvania electrification project. The normal and desirable procedure of placing an electrification into service is cited, and the departure from it brought about by the difficulties encountered in actual railway operation are explained. The operating practise?functions of the power

Electrification system testing
5th IET Professional Development Course on Railway Electrification Infrastructure and Systems (REIS 2011), 2007This paper presents an overview of electrification system testing that has been applied to a number of systems in the UK, Australasia and several systems in Asia. Its basic principles could be applied to any electrified railway system. It covers why testing is required, basic methods of testing, processing and analysis of the acquired data.

The Sorocabana railway electrification
Electrical Engineering, 1943The Sorocabana Railway electrification is noteworthy in that the railroad is a meter-gauge line run largely on wood fuel. The lack of suitable national coal or oil sources and the increasing difficulty of obtaining wood fuel led the railway to electrify its line between Sao Paulo and Santo Antonio.
