Shape-dependent electrocatalytic activity of platinum nanostructures

Journal of Materials Chemistry, 2008
Since many metallic nanostructures with different shapes exhibit unique chemical and physical properties, a systematic attempt to synthesize these shape-controlled structures for property–shape correlation remains an important challenge in contemporary materials chemistry.

Electrocatalytic Carbon Dioxide Activation

Carbon dioxide is one of the anthropogenic gases which is strongly polluting the atmosphere. The main emissions of this gas are related to the combustion of fuels. This pollutant contributes to global warming of the Earth and poses a risk to life. It is therefore urgent to close the cycle: capture CO2, transform, re-use, and capture CO2 again.

Synthesis and electrocatalytic activities of Co3O4 nanocubes

Journal of Nanoparticle Research, 2010
In this article, a hydrothermal method was developed to synthesize Co3O4 nanocubes using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as oxidant, Co(NO3)2·6H2O as a cobalt source. The products are characterized in detail by multiform techniques including X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission ...

Prediction of electrocatalytic activity of boron nanostructures

Chemical Physics Letters, 2018
Abstract The dissociation of O2 and HO2 are important reactions that occur at the cathode of fuel cells producing H2O and use platinum as a catalyst. There is a need to replace platinum with less expensive catalysts. Here the possibility of boron nanostructures as catalysts for the reactions is considered using density functional theory.
