A phase 1 single and multiple ascending dose study of orforglipron in Japanese participants with type 2 diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, Volume 17, Issue 2, Page 205-213, February 2026.
Orforglipron, a novel oral non‐peptide GLP‐1 receptor agonist, was evaluated in a Phase 1, double‐blind, placebo‐controlled, randomized, single and multiple ascending dose study in Japanese participants with type 2 diabetes. The safety and tolerability profile of orforglipron was consistent with those of other GLP‐1 receptor agonists, and ...

GDF‐15 Levels in Cirrhosis Are Linked to Hepatic Fibrogenesis, Bacterial Translocation, and Worse Clinical Outcomes

open access: yesLiver International, Volume 46, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background &Aims Growth differentiation factor‐15 (GDF‐15), a cell stress‐induced cytokine, is implicated in liver disease pathophysiology. We investigated GDF‐15 in cirrhosis, focusing on its association with disease‐driving pathomechanisms, platelet function, hepatic decompensation, and mortality.

NT‐proBNP With Postoperative Complications and 2‐Year Mortality Among Hip Fracture Patients: An Observational Cohort Study

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 18, Issue 2, Page 368-381, February 2026.
Preoperative NT‐proBNP is strongly associated with both postoperative complications and 2‐year all‐cause mortality among patients who received hip fracture surgery. Higher levels of NT‐proBNP before surgery may serve as a useful biomarker for risk stratification and guiding treatment decisions for this patient subpopulation.

Longitudinal sex differences in cerebrovascular ageing in older adults: results from the brain in motion study

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 604, Issue 3, Page 1088-1112, 1 February 2026.
Abstract figure legend Longitudinal assessment of sex differences in cerebrovascular ageing over a ∼6 year period: the Brain in Motion study. Cerebrovascular function was assessed at baseline (T1) and at a follow‐up (T2) ∼6 years later, at rest, during euoxic hypercapnia and while engaging in submaximal exercise. Over the follow‐up period females had a
