Performance of anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody testing in asymptomatic or mild COVID-19 patients: A retrospective study in outbreak on a cruise ship.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
ObjectivesA few studies on antibody testing have focused on asymptomatic or mild coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients with low initial anti-severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) antibody responses.

ALBI‐6—A Novel Prognostic Score Combining ALBI and Interleukin‐6 in Patients With HCC Treated With Atezolizumab and Bevacizumab

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
ALBI‐6, a novel score combining albumin–bilirubin grade and interleukin‐6, showed improved prognostic discrimination compared with established scores in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma treated with atezolizumab plus bevacizumab, supporting its potential use for risk stratification in this setting.

sGC stimulator BAY 41‐8543 improves survival and ventricular function in a rat model of doxorubicin‐induced cardiomyopathy with nephrotic syndrome

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose Anthracyclines such as doxorubicin (DOXO) remain a cornerstone of cancer therapy but are associated with a high risk of cardiotoxicity and subsequent heart failure (HF). Impairment of NO/soluble guanylyl cyclase (sGC)/cGMP pathway has been reported in anthracycline‐induced cardiomyopathy.

The low fasting serum C‐peptide level was associated with reduced sural nerve action potential amplitudes: A cross‐sectional study of Japanese type 2 diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Low fasting serum C‐peptide levels were independently associated with abnormal sural nerve action potential amplitude measured by DPNCheck® in patients with type 2 diabetes. Fasting serum C‐peptide may serve as a clinically relevant marker for diabetic polyneuropathy. ABSTRACT Aims/Introduction The association between the fasting serum C‐peptide levels

Towards a Point-of-Care (POC) Diagnostic Platform for the Multiplex Electrochemiluminescent (ECL) Sensing of Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI) Biomarkers

open access: yesBiosensors, 2022
Globally, 70 million people are annually affected by TBI. A significant proportion of all TBI cases are actually mild TBI (concussion, 70–85%), which is considerably more difficult to diagnose due to the absence of apparent symptoms.

Mapping syphilis surveillance: Insights into blood donation screening practices worldwide

open access: yesVox Sanguinis, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Objectives Syphilis is caused by the bacterial spirochete Treponema pallidum and can be transmitted through blood transfusion. However, there have been less than 10 documented transfusion‐transmitted cases since World War II.

An analytical comparison of three immunoassay platforms for subpicomolar detection of protein biomarker GAD65. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
A disproportional increase of circulating GAD65 within hours from an intraportal islet allotransplantation has been validated as biomarker of beta cell loss and poor functional outcome.
